  • Hurricane Dean

Well fellow Broncomaniacs, it looks like Hurricane Dean is heading straight towards us. I guess that's the price you have to pay for living in paradise. I've been tightening up the hurricane shutters and trying to get everything up off the floor a bit. My apartment is on the ground floor so I'm a little worried about getting flooded out. As of yesterday I was going to stay and ride it out, but now that it's supposed to be a cat5 when it gets here, I don't think that's a good idea.

I missed to game last night, but I'm getting ready to watch the replay on NFL network. After that I'll be loading up the truck and getting ready to head into the jungle somewhere. After it passes Jamaica we should now more about which way it'll go. The water in the Carribean is about 86 degrees so that doesn't help things at all. I'll be around until sometime tomorrow. It might be a while until we get power and internet restored. Things always go a little slower in Mexico.

Take care everyone and I'll try to check in sometime tomorrow.

Good luck, I hope nothing gets damaged and it will just make an amazing side swipe and then dampen on out before hitting land.

Same thing happened to us in Hawaii here this past week, Hurricane Flossie. It just hit the tip of the Big Island (Hawaii) for a day and then dampened on out. We had some strong winds though, but no rain.

I hate hurricanes. Never been in one thank god.

        I like Blizzards though.

        Let it snow!

        Good luck to you.

Good luck. I hope you and your property makes it through ok.

Thanks for the thoughts and well wishes everyone. It looks like it's going to head a little further south of us so I'll probably just ride it out. I'll check back in as soon as I can.

We lost power last night at about 8:00 and actually got it back on at noon today, although it keeps cutting off and on lately. Pretty much normal for down here anyway.

Lot of rain and fairly mild winds, although the ocean is still pretty violent. There have been some 10 to 20 ft waves today, which is unheard of for the Carribean.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts and well wishes. Looks like all is going to be well around here soon.

Glad to learn you escaped the wrath.

What is left of Dean reached southern Utah yesterday. And boy did it bring a lot of much needed rain. The lightening last night was spectacular.

We had more rain again this morning but it is starting to move out. It is cool, rainy and real fall like today. Nice break from the mid to upper 90's. We should only see about 75 today if we're lucky.
