    Actually, you are incorrect.

    Mexico did win that battle. But they lost the war. Max became Emperor of Mexico. The Battle of Puebla can best be described as having the same effect on the Mexican populace as the Battle of Thermopylae had on Greeks. As in after both battles the populace rose up and drove out the foreigner.

    I can never remember what it's supposed to be about... but I do know that it's a pretty quaint holiday and not widely celebrated in Mexico.
