9News (KUSA) in Denver had a report tonight and showed footage of construction crews tearing out seat in the upper deck, [300 section]. This is to make way for the 5280 club. It will feature a bar that is 52 feet 8 inches and have great views of the Mile High City.

I saw Vic Lombardi's tweet about that. Makes no sense.
How about spending less money to renovate a stadium that you can't fill and spending more money on staff and players?sigpic👍 1Comment

I actually think its a brilliant move overall given that a lot of fans that currently attend games are not really there to watch baseball but rather experience the colorado outdoors and drink some beer.sigpicComment

Well I guess if the goal is to provide an outdoor hang out spot instead of a playoff contender.sigpicComment

Just another way to sell more tickets, beer and concessions.:lombardi:2019 Adopt-A-Bronco: Dr. Dre'Mont Jones

Since they will have fewer seats they will potentially sell fewer tickets. Since there will be fewer tickets avaliable ticket prices can go up. Giving the benefit of a doubt maybe that will increase revenues to help get free agents.
On a side note I am thinking that they will sell some of the seats as a fund raiser, with the Purple seats going for a premium. I hope they at least give Healton #17 a purple and a green set. Also save a purple and green #2 for Troy.Ask me about My Jesus and how to have a relationship with Him.

That upper deck was almost always empty anyway, it's basically adding to the game experience without subtracting much.:lombardi:2019 Adopt-A-Bronco: Dr. Dre'Mont Jones

I'd put money on it that that deck is mainly empty a majority of the season. If I'm a luxury fan I go to the club level not all the way to the upper deck.sigpicComment

I gotta say I was at coors field this sept. that place was pretty dam nice. I have limited BB experience but two buddies that were with me have been to a lot of places and thought the same. I told them about the Reno and the first response was that there was another reason to make Denver our next year mancation destination. I would love to sit in a place like that and watch the game!sigpicComment

I have been involved in the design of some sports arenas and worked with HOK Sports who designed a lot of ball parks. Wrigley Field is the model often referred to in that it provides a venue where business people can attend a game during the day and entertain regardless of how good the home team is. The Cubs seldomly field a contender-- yet they make a lot of revenue off attendance and concessions by business attendees.
The average family of 4 will not drop $100 each to go see a game, but businesses will pay that as a write-off marketing expense. So, these improvements are about getting more revenue from those that would usually attend the game.sigpicComment
