  • [Rockies] Rockies make offer to Carlos Ruiz

    http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/1...rlos-ruiz.html

The Rockies offered Ruiz a two-year, $15MM deal with a buyout (presumably on a club option for year three), according to Troy Renck of the Denver Post (on Twitter). The Rockies won't go to $20MM, however, and they're prepared to move on to the outfield/first base market if they can't strike a deal with Ruiz.
PLEASE Ruiz, don't sign with us! There's teams who are better and have more money than us.

This would be a terrible signing IMO. I understand we'd move Rosario to first and let Ruiz play catcher, but about 7.5 million per year is too much for a guy who doesn't hit very well anymore. He can still field, but that's overpaying.

Unrelated, but PLEASE don't trade Tulo to the Cardinals! I wouldn't be able to stand it if they fixed their only offensive weakness with the best SS in the game

They always like to sign guys 2-3 years past their prime.

To be fair it would only fix their offense when he's healthy.

If your going to go throw 7.5 at Ruiz. I dont see a reason to throw money at Kendry Morales. The guy raked in Seattle, imagine him in Coors. Decent fielder too.

Fortunately, I heard we're moving on from Ruiz. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/1...rlos-ruiz.html

I'd be fine with Morales, but he can be injury prone.
