well im getting the itch for some new music

i havent been doing much with music for a number of years now. since i moved last my cd's have been packed in boxes and left for dead. they really are a pain in the butt to deal with and i have to put them onto a harddrive but i just have no patience.

i used to be heavy into the local scene around pa. surfing youtube today ive run across this band

    THE SWORD

these guys sound great and i checked their site out and they have a new cd on the way.

people say they sound like sabbath but id say corrosion of conformity

they are from texas and are going on tour to the uk. sucks cuz id love to see em.

anyone have any other bands they know. preferably rock but ive got a eclectic taste

Man that was cool. I'd say Sabbeth was a influence on them, singer sounds like a young Ozzy. Do you live in Philly? There was a post from 4 days ago on youtube, said he was seeing them Friday in Philly! I'm afraid that meant last night!

I love The Sword. and you can hear that Sabbath was a huge influence on them.

Although i wouldn't really say old school metal since they're pretty new, but i like they're old sound.

they're alot better then the thousands of other bands that are trying to sound "retro" but end up sucking. *cough* wolfmother *cough*

Pretty cool. It's rare that a newer band does anything for me.

Nothing wrong with a big Black Sabbath influence. I've been a huge fan of Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus (another Texas band) for ages. The new Solitude Aeturnus ( Alone ) is growing on me. The new Candlemass (King of the Grey Islands) is great (I wouldn't expect anything less from them). Robert Lowe is the vocalist for both bands now and does a tremendous job of not allowing his vocals for Candlemass to sound like his vocals for Solitude Aeturnus. Into the Depths of Sorrow and Beyond the Crimson Horizon by Solitude Aeturnus and everything but Chapter 6 by Candlemass are must haves for fans of Doom Metal.
