  • I hate Itunes!!!!

It's mostly frustration right now... but still..... I do like it's interface and I like using it as a player on my comp more then Media Player... but day-um!! I use Limewire to download music(I know... not exactly "right") and it somehow cleared it's own files. So now half my iTunes library is missing the "original" source and won't play. So.... since everything is on my Media Player as well I put it all on my flashdrive and then proceed to copy it onto iTunes, iTunes even converts it all over.... it's all there and life is good... until I unplug the flashdrive and the "original source" is gone again!!!!!!!!! Grrrrr!!!!!!

Any ideas?!?! Maybe recopy everything in my Media Player over into Limewire? That's about the only thing I haven't tried.

    Question:

When you DL a song file from Limewire, do you automatically open the file in itunes to play?

If you do that, Itunes will NOT create a file for your itunes library folder.

After you DL music, you should go to:

    My music

    Itunes

    Itunes music folder

Inside that itunes music folder, create a folder called 00 or something, and drag all of your DL'ed music from limewire (or the music you have on your flash drive) to that folder.

From there, you can drag the music from the 00 folder into itunes, and then Itunes will make it's on folders and subfolders for the music.

    Hope that helps...

You need to put the music files into a new folder, redirect Itunes to them when it says it can't find the files, and don't move them.

Itunes isn't actually putting the music into the program, but setting a programming path to the file. When the file becomes removed (such as with your flash drive) or if you put them in another directory, Itunes will only look in the spot it was told to look in. The same thing is what all programs do, but usually people don't need to move files around or they click on the file directly.

and limewire is bound to give you a virus. I suggest using bitcomet.

Nope... I've always dragged it from Limewire to the "music" link on iTunes and, unitl now, have never ha da problem. I'll have to try it your way.

Ah... I see.... I'll hafta do that then. There's no way to make it look in the Media Player files, is there?

I'll check out bitcomet. I've never had a problem with Limewire in the 4 or 5 years I've been using it. But... I'm always open to suggestions. TY!

You should be able to direct it there, you just need to find the file that they are in.

So... if I am understading you correctly...

Me putting my library onto my flashdrive it basically the "mobile file". So, take the "mobile file" and place it into "my music"(the "stationary file" on the laptop) and then direct iTunes to look into "my music" for all files. Voila! Done and easy. Correct? Then clean off the flashdrive and I'm good to go? It seems so simple!!!

i agree Itunes sucks the big one. I had all my mp3s arranged in folders by artist and then genre, and when I uploaded all my songs to my IPOD, it re-arranged all my songs on my hard drive and put them in folders by album. That took me forever to get them sorted the way I wanted them, it'll take me forever and a day to get them put back to the way they were.

              Itunes sucks!!!!!

Whoever designed ITunes did a terrible job, because the IPOD should just be copy and paste from the folder to the ipod drive. not all this sync crap that takes forever.

Don't get me started on the iPods!!! I had a sweet 4g nano for YEARS that I had dialed in the way I like it. Small enough to fit in my pocket for bike rides and gym working out but big enough that it wasn't easy to lose. The GF was doing laundry and didn't check my pocket and..... *sigh*... gone... so, since she has a new shuffle she offers me her 30g Video. It's not worries... so I tell her she doesn't have to. She hates the video and insists I take it. So, basically it's mine(we live together, so it's not like it's not hers).... well... during htis fiasco I try to put music on it and it makes me do the whole set-up on her shuffle and video then the whole times keeps telling me there's a faster USB to plug it into and yadda yadda....... it's all a pain in the ass. Hopefully with the help with the new music folder it will be all worked out. (and yes... adding music to them is a pain in the arse too)

Not really. It's a pretty simple, easy to use program (as with most of macs other stuff.) Every other mp3 player i've had (and i've had ALOT) have sucked hard compared to my ipod. iTunes > WMP

It doesn't take forever to sync either.

Step 1. Place Music into iTunes

                      Step 2. plug in iPod

                      done.

if it weren't the fact that my car stereo has ipod capability I wouldn't even mess with it, but not having to change cd's all the time is a priceless feature to have. 4,000 mp3s at my fingertips while driving down the road is worth the hassle, but I won't be adding or removing songs from my ipod for a very long time.

i got the same faster usb port message to, i hate that. i'm gonna by a creative labs mp3 player and use it for when I go to the gym, not doing the ipod route anymore.

Ipods and Itunes are one of the easiest MP3's to work with...

iTunes is the best music player IMO.

                            Here's what I do:

I download a song from Limewire....make sure you know the location of where the song is being saved.

Next open up iTunes and go to "Add File To Library"

Go to the location where you Limewire songs are saved...and import the songs 3 at a time.

Next, right-click the songs you just imported and select "Convert to AAC"

It will convert them and ultimately save them to your iTunes library, that way you can just delete the .mp3 format songs you downloaded from Limewire. Hope this helps :salute!:
