Jon & Kate plus 8

So going back to pre xmas, my mom told me that my sister was in love with this show called Jon & Kate plus 8. It's on TLC on Monday's I think?

But anyways, it's a reality TV show that follows a family with a set of:

fraternal twin girls and a set of sextuplets.


I had no idea what this show was about, but my sister wanted seasons 1 and 2, so I bought her them for her present.

I watched the dvds with her, and I'm not going to lie it's a pretty cool show.

It basically follows the Goesselin family around all day every day. The cameramen and microphone guy are basically apart of the family, and they follow the 8 kids and the parents during their daily tasks.

It's probably more of a girl show, but I think it's pretty cool... One of the little girls reminds me of my little cousin.

I love Jon & Kate. Sometimes I wish Kate could get her hands on my 10 and 6 year old cousins. She'd have her hands full and they'd come home starving.

that's all she used to watch was this show and all of those freaking baby shows and God knows what else...

I didn't really mind John and Kate... but good grief...

Yeah, my gf watches that show all the time. Which means I watch it all the time too. It's not too bad of a show but I agree with RealBronco, good grief!

So I still watch this show on Monday nights when it's on.

I can't believe how much the parents have changed from all of the scandals in the magazines and papers.

Anyone catch last nights premiere?

my GF is recording the show tonight wasting space on the DVR..

the only reason that she wanted to watch tonight episode is because she heard that the parents were going to split up on this years show in the beginning episode

I don't know if they are split up, and not telling anybody about it or what.... but after I watched that episode last night, you could just tell that something was up.

They hardly talked to each other, and it was almost awkward watching them.

Fame ain't all a bowl of cherries. Their situation might have happened anyway, but methinks that the new found fame and subsequent scrutiny sped up the process. I hope they stay together, but if not, they need to really take care of those kids as a team. These poor kids will hear nothing but bad things about their parents and have to live with it.

My wife and daughters have been watching this show for years. It was all about the kids for them. They liked the parents up until lately. Now they have taken Jon's side, as we now learn of all the parental problems, including possible affairs and the likelihood of separation.

We have our opinion on what happened.....our theory goes something like this:

Mom forgot what the purpose of the show was......to chronicle the lives of their "gang" and pay the bills. She appears to have taken on a whole different life, that of a celebrity. And she was rude to her husband on the show, and basically alienated him from the process....a process most of us would not want to be part of. Imagine having all those kids, with cameras around you constantly, losing your relationships at work and with your partner?

I used to be in the other room when my wife watched the show.....I noticed that Kate did the majority of the talking, even though I wasn't paying attention, and could hardly hear the show. It makes sense to me now, not that talking more is a crime, but it sort of fits what I was hearing from one room away.

Anyway....if this is all true, and we are not getting set up for more money-making TV, I would say that the premise for the show has taken a disastrous turn, and in the end, those famous children may have grown up in the most foolish of situations....on tv, and with parents who are splitting......and it's all documented for them to see someday.

Anyway, based on the latest "gossip", it seems that Kate has changed the most, and not for the better - for her family.

(Note: I am not saying that Jon is a saint, but he appears to have gotten the short end of the stick...)



THEN AGAIN......MAYBE IT'S ALL PART OF THE SCRIPT.....

Too many times, parents turn their focus 100% to the kids and forget about one another. While, of course, your kids at your world and your MAIN focus, you have to remember your spouse as well. They are still there and they are still important. Too many people lose focus that FAMILY when Husband/Wife too, not just kids.

Secondly, being a celebrity is definitively not more important than being mom and wife. Maybe this lady has spent so much time caring for others than she feels it is her time to shine? If that is true, she is wrong. Her kids and her family are most important. I understand that the show is their living, but she cant rise above the family. She is abandoning what got her to this position and she is neglecting the most important things in her life.
