Here is the premise. You are stuck on a deserted island. You have a solar powered Portable DVD player and a solar powered CD player. You are only allowed to have five movies and five CDs for the rest of your time on the island(you have no idea how long this will be). What are your five movies and what are your five CDs?
I will go first.
movies
1. O'Brother Where Art Thou?
I love this movie. It has it all comedy, adventure, action, and even cow on a roof.
2. The Big Lebowski
If you can't tell I like this movie you must have the pictures turned off in your options. Even being stuck on a deserted island would be a little more tolerable knowing the Dude is out there somewhere.
3. Pulp Fiction
Why not have a little modern Noir to make the stay more exciting. Although the five dollar milkshake might make me miss the amenities of home. But, I could spend many hours scouring over the film to see if there is any clues as to what is in the case.
4. Jaws
This movie is so awesome, although in the deserted island scenario the horror factor of this film would be intensified greatly. Quint is my favorite character in movie history.
5. SuperBad
I thought about this last selection for quite a while, and in the end I figured I would need a straight-up laugher. Withe the agony of being stranded alone on an island I think some good old fashioned knee slapping would help.
Music
1. Communication and Conviction~The Tossers
This is my favorite album by my favorite band. I enjoy every song on this album so this one is a no brainer for me.
2. Rum, Sodomy, & The Lash~The Pogues
This is a great album and should be included in any serious discussion about the best Punk albums of all time. This is another album that is excellent from start to finish.
3. Moondance~Van Morrison
I dare anyone who has heard this album to find me a better singer. Crazy Love makes every other love song seem like death metal in comparison. This album will "stone you to your soul."
4. Genuis:The Best Of Warren Zevon~Warren Zevon
The king of cool Warren Zevon is one of my favorite artists of all time. This is one of the few "Greatest Hits" albums that seems to hit on all cylinders. Mr. Bad Example has arguably the coolest line in music history. "I got a job at my fathers carpet store......Laying tackless stripping and housewives by the score." Seriously how cool is that line? I wish I had wrote it.
5. Within a Mile Of Home~Flogging Molly
I can't stray too far from Irish Punk, and Flogging Molly does it about as well as anyone. This album is a great mixture of ballads and fast paced Irish toe tappers. My only hope would be that while on this island I could figure out how to produce some kind of alcoholic beverage so I could enjoy this album the way it was meant to be enjoyed.
Well there is my list what is yours?
I will go first.
