  • Jack FM

This by far is one of the coolest internet radio stations I've found through CBS radio linked by AOL.

The options with CBS radio is immense. 350 stations to choose from with every possibility available to suit your musical preference.

Jack FM has a station in Las Vegas you can hear through your car radio and they have it on the internet. "We play what we want" is their motto and the variety is fantastic. Mostly rock from the 60's to today but they throw in some disco, occasional pop and no country music.

They do have commercials but no DJ. Just a voice guy. I was listening through Las Vegas but have tried Dallas, Baltimore and I've been on Los Angeles the last two weeks. Each city has the same voice guy and motto but they play different music. It's like a national thing that isn't the same.

I like internet radio and when at work, I do not listen to local radio anymore. Tired of the repetition and lack of choices here.

I also listen to the 90's decade country wise where we can here a banned band in the Dixie Chicks.

Internet radio also plays other banned bands like Oasis and Marilyn Manson.

So my question is do you listen to internet radio too or do you stay loyal to your local radio stations?

At home I mostly just listen to music on my iPod or stereo. When I'm in the car and don't feel like iPod or CDs, I listen to the two rock stations we have here.

There's a Jack FM station here in SA, too. I guess it must be the same deal.

HMPH. CBS?? Not impressed. They pulled the plug on the Adam Carolla Show.... soon I get to listen to other morning crap like the Rob, Arnie and Dawn show. You want to talk about CRAP CRAP CRAP?!?! Listen to the R,A & D show. But, the show does big numbers here in the Sacto area... 'course... Sacto isn't exactly known for it's intelligence. Outside of UC Davis Ned Center it's got... the King's...? OH!! The Rivercat's too!!! And Sac State.. the former stomping grounds of Tom Hanks and... Otis Amey??

        Jack ROCKS!

But I don't get a clear signal here. I have to stream it from the net and then it bogs my computer down.

        I'm a sad panda.

        I love the station, though.

Most of the stations have gone to complete crap in the last couple of years and I can't stand them any more. I mostly listen to my iPod or nothing at all when in the car these days.

The Mountain is good, mostly, but I do prefer Jack. I just don't get a good signal. Probably because my car is ancient and a POS. No fault of theirs at all. But it is what it is.

We have only 6 local radio stations. 2 country, 1 classis rock, 1 pop/hit, 1 soft rock and 1 alternative. That's it.

Half of those we can't even tune in at home.

But at home, it's XM through DirecTV.

Yeah, I'm in love with this Jack channel. FINALLY somebody is getting it right.

That's because you are in UTAH!!! You can't drink alchohol or caffeine, can't eat chocolate and you must tie your long hair in neat little braids. So, therefore... you can't have fun lest you not be allowed to ride your bike with a button up shirt and black shiny helmet. But rock on with your 6 stations!!!

That's why many of us in this state, not members of a certain religion have been fighting back!!

We may be a minority but being heard!

Booze laws are a huge issue here this year and it's changing.

Anyway, I wonder how many cities do actually have Jack FM now?

              I know of:

              Las Vegas
Los Angeles (my current choice and stuck on this one now)
              Baltimore
              Dallas
              San Antonio
              Miami

              any additions?

We have it here. The best thing is the funny smart assed comments they come up with all the time. Why is Manson banned where you are at? And Oasis?

                    I live in Utah.

This state is like it's own country but won't go there.

And I love the comments I hear on the LA based station. The call in people really crack me up too. Las Vegas didn't have them. Neither did Baltimore. Dallas, I didn't stick with long.

And I'm getting a little tired of the repeated comment guy "HD radio is a fad like the internet....... or pockets."

                    I'm totally hooked on this.

One thing that I found interesting from the wiki link was the fact how they are criticized for still playing the marketing game. I hear songs I've never heard before and I hear songs that are played on all other stations. I don't see how they can be complained about when a lot of songs they play, yes are routine in some eyes, but a lot of songs are not. Songs you wouldn't hear anywhere else.

Apparently the Vegas station is no more. Last few times we were down there, it was off.

But now... here in southern Utah, we have George FM out of St. George. It is exactly the same as Jack and I'm thrilled I found it.

My problem is that it's frequency of 103.1 is the digital transponder for a different country radio station based in St. George that broadcasts on that frequency here in our town and have for years. As soon as I turn the corner on I-15 near the mountain it switches over.

With so little radio stations here, I'm mad because they did not choose a frequency that wasn't already in use and they do not have a transponder station here in Cedar.

I was so thrilled to find this station because I love the variety they play and as mentioned they are twins of Jack just using George in their name.
