As for The Village, I'll argue to the grave that that movie was horrible. :p .
I actually didn't want to see "I, Robot" because the previews made it look like a whole movie of Will Smith one-liners. But I think every one-liner was in the preview and so it wasn't bad spread over the whole film. Smith did a good job and the effects were really good. Plus the story was a classic sci-fi adventure with a moral.

As far as "The Village" goes, I can understand why some people didn't like it. But I can occasionally appreciate a people watching flick (especially with a cute redhead) that has a bit of psychological suspense thrown in. I liked the cinematography; good use of colors and interesting filming angles, especially with the blind girl walking around. Anyway, I liked it but can understand how some folks were thrown off by the previews, which were misleading.

I rented some movies this summer, does that count?

None of which are newer than 2 years old...so.....

Everybody's gotta elevate from the norm...

So, Jared, do you just not like new flicks? Summer is blockbuster season and I personally always look forward to all the new films hitting the theaters.

Napolean Dynamite was friggin awesome - best movie of the summer. The two that were also very impressive are the Bourne Supremacy and Garden State. I saw almost all of the summer movies and those three stand head and shoulders above the rest.

I think the only movie I was disappointed in this summer was Dodgeball, it pretty much sucked.

            However, Anchorman was hilarious.

Spiderman 2 was better than 1.

The Village was awesome as well. You just have to understand M. Night's style. I liked it, it was new and I wasn't paying attention enough to be upset by the ending because it surprised me so...

I, Robot was quite good, I enjoyed it. It reminded me of the Second Renaissance from Animatrix.

King Arthur was very good. I love those kinds of movies.

Harold and Kumar was funny as hell.

Shrek 2 was better than 1. I laughed my ass off.

What else have I seen...I really want to see Nepolean Dynomite.

I can't think of the rest...I saw a lot of movies....again the only one I was really disappointed in was Dodgeball

Oh! The Day After Tomorrow! That movie was awesome...truly one of the best of the summer.

Chronicles of Rid****, I actually liked that one too.

In general, I just don't like the theater experience. You are expected to sit still and be quiet for 2 hours, which is an impossibility. And I am supposed to shell out 12 dollars for this 'pleasure".

Also, my wife and I have schedules that make it very difficult to see anything other than a late movie, ans since she first became pregnant, and now with the baby, she can't stay awake past 10.

Thirdly, there are very few movies I want to see anyway. The only thing I REALLY wanted to see in the theater this year was the new Harry Potter, and I wasn't able to. Before that, I went to see LOTR: Return of the King in December. Before that.....I think it was LOTR: Two Towers in January of '03? S that's 2 movies in 18 months or so. Which is about my historical average.

And finally, I am not sure if its' the channels I watch or what, but I rarely see movie advertisements. I watch a lot of ESPN and Food Network, some Fox Sports, a little bit of Bravo (the West Wing mostly), M2, VH1 Classic, Comedy Central, and Cartoon Network. So I have no idea what movies are out anyway. I knew about "Shrek 2" (no thanks) "Spiderman 2" (I'll wait for video) and "Bourne Supremacy" (I'll wait for a friend to see it first and review it), and I heard they were re-making "Manchurian Candidate" (why? and did it come out yet?), but I have never even heard of "Day After Tomorrow", "Dodgeball" (that just sounds stupid...), "Collateral","Hero", "Anchorman", Harold and Kumar" or "The Village". I also didn't know there was another King Arthur movie. Wasn't there supposed to be a movie with Brad Pitt about Achilles? And somewhere in this thread, someone mentioned "I, Robot". Interesting story, but I never thought it would make a good movie. I was unaware that there was one this summer.

I guess I am just out of the loop. Maybe I just prefer movies that come out in the winter? I dunno. I have never analyzed it. All I know is, since I moved, I don;t even know where there is a movie theater.-

Oh yeah, I forgot about Troy.

That one was good as well but boy did they totally screw the whole story up of the Trojan War....idiots. But the movie was still good. I really don't think Brad had to act a whole lot to pull off the conceitedness of Achilles...hehehe.

Yeah, King Arthur was good too...it was suppose to be sort of the "real story" without any myth or legend....no magic or anything like that.

They're also coming out with a movie about Alexander the Great...

However Colin Farrel as Alexander was a mistake...I'm still going to see it though.
