I just saw the movie last weekend and I am pissed off....... because I watched it on a crappy bootleg DVD and I totally missed out on watching it on the big screen in all its glory. I'm definitely going to the theater this weekend and seeing it in 3D. Great movie in any case.

Well there is your problem. A crappy bootleg dvd never gets more then a 3 minute run where I come from. Avatar is definatly an experience that needs to take place inside a theatre. Prolly my new favorite movie of all time. My wife didnt want to see it but I talked her into it. She loved it and wants to go again

Normally I don't care for bootlegs either but my father in-law gave it to us and I really wanted to see it so I watched it. The funny thing was when they were speaking in they're native language the subtitles were in Russian or something so I just had to guess what they were saying. But the rest of the movie was in English.

Great visual effects, weak writing, completely unoriginal story.

The visual effects were so outstanding that it overcomes whatever major flaws there are in the story.

Tickets for this movie basically double what they were in 1999. Or at least tickets in 1999 were less than $9-$17...

The average ticket price in 1998 was $4.69.

when your name is James Cameron you don't have to give an eff about writing or plot

This. I should have just stayed home and watched Dances with Wolves. I wonder if James Cameron will give me my $50 back and maybe throw in a little extra for my wife's and my wasted time.

The Imax here is pre-assogned tickets. So we're good. But thanks for the advise!!
