More iTunes hate!!

Or is it my laptop?

So, I bought my wifey a 5th gen nano. I had a 4th, so iTunes has always worked for me and never needed to update it. But to run the 5th it needs an update. So, I click update and... errors 2502 and 2503. I try again. Same thing. I look it up and am advised to uninstall and reinstall. Okay, I try.

Hmph. Same errors. Since when CAN'T you install a friggen program? I install Revo Unistaller and attempt to repair. Same error codes. So, I let Revo remove it. I try to install off Apple's site. Same error codes... again!!! I figure- "Okay, I'll remove Quicktime to be safe since they piggback and maybe Quicktime has a problem."

I open up Revo, uninstall and it's gone. I verified both iTunes and Quicktime are gone. I go to redownload. Download= CHECK!!! I click open the file to run as "admin" and wait..... loading... verifying... installing.... hope is climbing and....

"Cannot install error 2502 and 2503". This flashes three times ten ends with "cannot install iTunes, requires Quicktime, cannot install Quicktime error 2503 and 2502".

At this point my computer skills(or lack of) are tapped and I'm willing to say fap iTunes excpet for the fact that it is updated on the desktop we have for the kids but that the whole library is duplicated and a beeyatch to wade through.

And to compound my frustration is that I lost my 4th gen and was about to replace it with a 5th 16g so I had the radio capability as well as the music capability. I just don't have the desire to sit on the desktop to make my playlists and "clean up" the double mess on that iTunes(seriously... all 16gigs are duplicated which makes it look like i have 32gigs).

Vista or windows 7? I'll try to get you an answer today but telling me what O.S. you're using.

Thanks Jake. I think I'm gonna clean up the library on the desktop anyways.

When you are installing the programs make sure to right click on the exe file and click Run As Administrator.

Thats what I did and still got the 2502 and 2503.

Also try going into your windows folder looking for the installer right click and make sure it has admin privliges

Here's a helpful link in uninstalling all the right programs. I'm not sure it will help but it could.

If worse comes to worse I'll ask my girlfriend to look it up on her work computer. She does tech support for apple so lulz.

Yep, didnt work. Followed the instructions to a "t" to remove everything. All clean. Still got the 2502 and 2503 errors after clicking exe to open as admin. Screw it! I've got the desktop 2/3 cleaned up now anyways.

Cool I'm just afraid that your laptop isn't going to beable to install anything again until that issue is fixed

Yeah. Me too. The wifey keeps saying she'll take it into work for one of her engineers to look over(she works with a business technology company) but that hasn't happened yet.

I guess as long as I have this place, facebook, and my picture gallery I'll be okay on the laptop. That's all about I used it for. And general interwebz browsing.
