  • Microsoft Kinect

Has anybody tried it? It looks like it has tons of potential, but for $150... oof, that's a little pricey...

    What are your thoughts? Experiences?

Gah, just another gimmick. Like Move, Kinect doesn't really offer anything special to hardcore gamers, it's targeted more towards casual gamers/families. I'll stick to playing my games with a controller.

Also I'd rather spend $150 bucks on 4 full priced 360 games, then to spend it on an gimmicky add-on.

It's worth a buy depending on you.
It's great, a lot of reviews are favoring the kinect, which is a shock because, everyone hated the move, it didn't seem different.

It's todays version of family night with monopoly or whatever.
The price is a little high, but if you wont to have fun with the fam, buy it.
It's not just for casual gamers, anybody can play it.

Thanksgiving is a few weeks away, what better way to have fun, then playing with the family. The motion sensor for it is also great, like you can tell the xbox things by vocals, in moving stuff with your hands.

casual gamers are what brings in more money

i'm a hardcore gamer, but the fact is, casual gamers are where it's at , MS and sony saw how nintendo was dominating with the wii, and they copied it, simple as that

        and smart

maybe they'll get some success out of it, i'll be buying it for the same reason i bought the move and the wii, the bowling games for it look fantastic lol

oh and you can't get 4 full priced 360 games for $150 lol

          usually it's not even 3 for $150

By that I mean some games at full priced are $40 bucks. For example, Halo Reach at Full price will probably be $40 near Christmas. I'd rather spend $150 stacking up on games.

              Kinect is racist....

Even if I were to buy this thing, it would be no good to me as I'm not light skinned. It apparentley has trouble recognizing dark skinned people. Not to mention, there's speculation that it causes skin cancer. Lol let the Conspiracy begin.

It's for the kiddies. Avoid it if you like good games.

ya though its does look kinda neat and seems to have a little more potential than a motion remote based system. if they could integrate options into most games for this i think it could be awesome

though i usually play video games to be lazy and sit around all day not to jump around in my apt looking like a fool

I kind of want to play a fighting game, but I'll always have to play it by myself because I'll look like a friggin' idiot doing judo chops and karate kicks towards the tv.

I saw that on my RSS earlier today. About half an hour later, a post came up disregarding it, saying they fixed it with the lighting conditions, which is something you have to have within a decent range regardless of skin color.

From what I've heard, the launch titles are meh (although the dance game is supposed to be awesome if you're into it)... but the potential seems to be huge. i.e. The games so far are just ok, but the technology seems to work really well and could end up being great when developers really get accustomed to it.

Controllers will remain the mainstay, but Kinect could turn out better than I expected.

Can you imagine the possibilities of Kinect with VR goggles? Think of the movie "Gamer", but without the huge "gaming room"...

Ha, Microsoft isn't that dumb. Their sales with Kinect would be the equivelent, of dropping a rock from a tree. As soon as reports about VR causing eye problems, or dissiness, their sales will be long gone in months. They'll wait to take a chance like that once Kinect is selling really really well.

i love it....its fun as hell, my neighbors have it and we were there yesterday to try it out. my 4 year old daughter and i had a blast with dance central.....fantastic game and the move and wii hand wands dont even come close to measuring up. the sports game is also insanely fun. The fitness shape evolved game is also heading down the path of very good, my wife hates games but even she was amazed at the fitness game.

the joy ride game and adventures are lame though.....im looking forward to getting it now and will be doing so shortly, plus they have sopme good games on the horizon for it......

overall if you stick to dance central, the sports game, and fitness evolved it will be fun stuff, Im sure they will be getting the kinks out and getting games better just like the wii did...but right now this technology is sweet and will open some very big doors down the road.....

it is not a gimmick at all....and if you dont just perfer hardcore solo gaming you will enjoy it.....
