Some of this is absolutely stupid, I mean really? Pandering to the big guns by giving CoD:BO any nominations is downright stupidity to me. People keep telling me it's an improvement on the last game, it's not hard to improve on absolute crap.

The only deserved nominations in my opinion goes to RDR and Rock Band, and from word of mouth, Mass Effect.

You'll find hundreds of criticisms online of these nominations but they have a point. I think this just highlights how terrible this year has been for gaming overall, despite so much promise.

And I won't even start on Alan Wake, lol.

My favorite game of the year was MLB: The Show 10. I love that game. But, I haven't played video games in months. Other than watching movies the consoles haven't been turned on for probably 4 months.

RDR takes the cake for me since it was a totally mindblowing game, I never thought after Red Dead Revolver that the sequel could be so huge. Alright they abused DLC for that game, but it's about the quality of the product, not the pricing and such.

And Rock Band in the music genre should win every category they're up for. The advances they made for the rythm gaming industry was staggering. Little games show so much innovation, never mind just music games.

Mass Effect 2 should've been #1, with no questions asked. Black Ops can stay on top as "the best shooter" for now, Crysis 2 will easily knock it off come March..

Also the 'Best Graphics' section is flawed. I know tons of games that have better graphics then the ones listed.

In short... GOTY should be Mass Effect 2, Black Ops isn't even top 10.

Eh... Heavy Rain wasn't all that great. It was kinda boring, and repetive after awhile. That's just me of course, but in all honesty, I wouldn't call it the best game on the system. I agree with your other 2 though, Mass Effect 2 is easily the best game ever made, and SC2 needs no introduction.

also I think they should do these awards in January make it so other games that come out like Gran Turismo 5 and World of Warcraft Cataclysm get a shot in the voting. I remember in 2008 Persona 4 got snubbed because it came out in December.

Go play Mass Effect 2 right now! I kind of liked the story of the first one more, but I prefer Miranda as a love interest and the gameplay (especially the biotic powers and the thermal clips) in the second one are so much better
