I saw this and I knew what to expect going in to the film as I had already read about half of the book but never got the chance to finish it. But I was surprised at how faithful the film was to the original material.The directing was also masterfully done and pretty cool I saw some cool camera tricks I hadn't seen since Martin Scorsese directed Bringing Out The Dead, Martin Scorsese did one great job and everyone was top notch especially Ben Kingsley and DiCaprio and I never though I would jump out of fright especially in a Scorsese film but I did. All in all a solid thriller with a good story and some great performances and for me it's the best film I've seen in 2010 so far.

I agree with you the movie was amazingly predictable even before I saw it I knew the ending ... I won't say it in case some one reads this and haven't seen the movie yet ... But all in all nothing special

I loved it when the TMZ host gave away the ending on national T.V. right after it came out lol

IMO it was Dicaprio's best acting performance. I have seen it twice and am still picking up on new things. Great Movie

I think the idea of the ending is to get you to think. Is he really a patient in the institution or is he being brainwashed into thinking so by Kingsley and Ruffalo's characters?

Umm this movie is straight garbage. And I've had enough of Leonardo DiCrapio to last me a lifetime.

I wouldn't call it garbage it isn't great by anymeans and Dicaprio is a really good actor when he wants to be now that he's out of his pretty boy faze.

in reference to the ending:

two things bother me about it (now i'll say the acting and directing and cinematography were phenomenal):

1. the ending was very predictable. the hints were rather obvious throughout.

2. when they throw twist #2 in at the end it's almost as if they knew they were being obvious so they had to ensure audiences had something to second guess themselves. was he cured or not cured? who knows? but do we really care? maybe he is controlling the island and not Kingsley. maybe he just wants them to think he continually reverts.

i thought that ending and Inception's ending were strikingly similar (odd they both starred the same actor). the difference was that Inception didn't really try to hide what was up with DiCaprio's character.
