At first, it was under the radar, about a month or so ago is when it was starting to become popular. Also, GS rated this a 9/10, so I take it it's pretty good. I think both GTA4 and Red Dead got higher though. I'm not sure if I'm going to get it yet, I haven't seen much of the gameplay, and there's still one more game I'm waiting for.👍 1Comment

Picked it up at the midnight release last night. Finally played it this morning. It feels like a Rockstar game for sure. A little of the same kinda play as GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption in the controls, but it doesn't play out like those games. There is still a lot of free roaming activity and side quests, but the game is not so much action as detective work. Looking for clues at crime scenes, interviewing witnesses, ect. This game really shines in the interview process. Nothing is cut and dry and you really need a good eye for detail. It's uncanny how well it requires you to read people, and not buy into everything you are told.
I've heard it compared to Heavy Rain, and the games have a couple details in common, but this game is it's own separate animal and stands on it's own merits.
So far I really like it. I have a feeling I'm going to be playing this game for a long time.Is it solipsistic in here, or is it just me?Comment

So I am thinking of picking this up today, I really enjoyed Heavy Rain and GTA. From what I have read this is kind of in the middle.
Is it worth it?sigpicComment

Done being a beat cop and also done with homicide.
Very fun game.Comment

I picked it up last night and played the first few hours of it.
So far, it's really fun, even though it sort of helps you through the first interrogations. You really can't screw up at this point.
Hopefully, it gets more difficult as the game goes on. (again, I'm still relatively close to the beginning, I'm only doing traffic cases right now).
Love the music. Love using the shotgun.Lifetime Broncos/Cowboys fan.

Im gonna buy it used off a guy at work in a few weeks. He has a bad habit of buying the new big games, playing and beating them, then trading them in. I told him that next time he trades in a few games to call me first and I'd pay him what he was gonna get on trade.*2011 BCMB Locker Room Division I League Champion**Voted; 2013 & 2015 BCMBA's Scariest Mod**Voted; 2014 BCMBA's Best Avi and Most Friendly*

After playing for a couple of hours last night, my impression is that this is a very well-executed game. The controls are tight and not overly complex, the graphics are absolutely stunning, and the plot seems compelling.
The new technology they used to render actors in the game is amazing! You can really read facial expressions and the characters look more realistic than in just about any other game I can think of. They also did a good job stylistically--it really feels like I'm watching an old noire film.
The gameplay itself may be a turn-off to some. Though there are action sequences (fist fights, shootouts, suspect chases, etc.), they are fairly rare and usually not lengthy. The bulk of the game really is in the "investigation" part of things, which some may find a bit slow or boring.
Personally, I'm fine with the pacing and thrilled with the game structure (I like puzzles and figuring stuff out). My biggest problem so far is that it really seems like even though most of the game has you finding clues, examining evidence, and questioning witnesses (and figuring out whether or not they are telling you the truth), you'll progress in the plot no matter how bad you are at these things. In other words, it seems like the only way to fail or get stuck in this game is to die--you can screw up witness interrogations and still solve cases by just doing what the game tells you to do. Also, I haven't come across anything yet that has really stumped me or required a lot of thought; most of the clues and answers are pretty obvious as long as you search around enough to find them. It almost feels more like an Easter egg hunt sometimes than an exercise in deduction or logic.
But it's still entertaining, and it's been fun so far. If you only played or liked GTA 4 of RDR for the gunfights and chase scenes, this one might not be for you. But if you enjoyed those games for their plots, character development, or ability to explore and gather stuff (how many flowers did you collect in RDR?), then you should really like this game.👍 1Comment
