Okay, I like video games. I'm a bit fickle in that there's only like four games I ever really like to get... but I am indeed into games.

So far this year I've bought FFX-2, which was disappointing for a number of reasons (most of which involve that they totally trashed the Rikku character who was my favorite)... and then I got Madden.

Now of course I've played Madden to death along with FFX-2, but later this month the third game for my PS2 I intend to get this year comes out...

    Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Anyone else excited about that game, or that even plays it here? Have you guys heard anything about it, yet?

    Alastor.

Well, I don't have a game console but I've played GTA3 and Vice City more than most people...absolutely love those two games.
i'm excited for San Andreas to come out because i know a bunch of my friends will purchase it.
I hear you can ride bicycles in this one and do group drive-bys. Sounds like fun to me!

This time it's a whole state, not just a city. You get to build your own casino, gamble, and do a whole mess of new stuff.

You can rob houses now. You apparently can get girlfriends in the game now. You can buy clothes that represent status, get tattoos, and actually start gang wars to eliminate those that you find pesky now.

It's 6 times the size of Vice City in area.

And a bunch of other stuff I don't recall off hand. It comes out the 26th.

      I'm pumped!

Oh! That's the game where you can customize the cars and race, right?!

I played that with my little cousin not too long ago. It was neat, but all they had was rice burners. I prefer some good old fashioned American heavy metal.

If they threw some of that in there, I'd be a fan for sure.

i'm trying to finish FFX-2 now. i've been using a walkthough b/c i want to get the best ending the first time (don't have time to play through it more than once) - there are some pretty tedious things you have to do though to get 100% completion on the first time; the comspheres for instance. now i've got to capture 4 chocobos that have a max level of 5 and that is taking forever. i've enjoyed the game though.

i'm looking forward to san andreas as well. i really enjoyed vice city - not only are these games fun, but they provide so many hours worth of playing time that they are well worth the money.

I tried to get 100% on my first walkthrough of FFX-2 as well, and ultimately there was too much to keep track of and I didn't get it.

And then I just... I dunno, it wore off on me, so I've never even finished my first game.

It's the first FF that I ever thought was buggy or poorly put together. I didn't like some of their concepts and such. Usually I dig it no matter how weird they get... I just wasn't into whatever they tried to do this time.

And I was really pissed about the changes they made to Rikku.

Those chocobos are pretty tedious indeed. Have fun with that.

Yeah, vids are good value for entertainment dollars. Not like a movie or something that can cost 20-30 bucks for tickets, gas, snacks, etc and lasts maybe two hours.

A game like GTA or FF can take 100 hours or more for 50 bucks.

That's probably why I'm a gamer to begin with. I'm cheap.

that has happened to me more than once - i've been playing this game on and off for just under a year now. this summer i got about half way through the comspheres and messed something up. i didn't pick it up again untill a couple of weeks ago.

what about rikku don't you like now?

Alastor. Need For Speed Underground is the game with all the rice burners, with some others as well (Volkswagen, Ford Focus).
There is Need For Speed Underground 2 coming out sometime this or next month I believe.

Gran Turismo 4 should be right up your alley. It's got everything.
Porsche, McLaren, Mercedes, Corvettes, Vipers, mustangs, it's got to the racing game with the greatest selection of cars, and im sure that selection will only be bigger for the latest edition.

                      Rikku...

Okay, now understand I'm not a freak... all the same...

Okay, I used to date a girl that was a lot like Rikku was in FFX - the incredibly playful and blunt, dangerously intelligent and creative, sassy girl... and a live wire of sexual activity and flirtation.

So naturally I just kind of got attached to Rikku. It helped that she seemed to me to be the kind of person that would steal your wallet, kiss you on the cheek while she did it, and spend your money boozing it up and make you smile while it happened.

The kind of girl you don't want to give matches too, but you do anyway just to see what she does with them - and then there's a fifty fifty chance she lights a "love candle" or burns your house down with them.

She just had a lot of spunk, was highly competent when she wanted to be, sharp as a whip yet disarming and enchanting. Of course she even looks like my old girlfriend a bit, so I probably projected too much of my old girlfriend onto her....

                      Okay, no, I'm not nuts.

Anyway, in FFX-2, she's totally clumsy and incompetent, no one seems to respect her, she whines, she's helpless and lame... she's stupid and timid.

I just... it was like the anti-thesis of what she was in the first one. She just seems totally different from what she was, and I liked what she was a lot, and don't like the new version at all.

If that makes any sense. And yes, I'm sane. And no, I don't get emotionally attached to video game characters. She just reminded me a lot of someone, and now doesn't any more.

It'd be like if Indiana Jones just suddenly "came out of the closet" to the rest of the world, or if you discovered Rambo secretely grew roses and decorated his house according to Martha Stewart's magazines.

                      Alastor.

i always thought rikku was that way though.
the girl i didn't like was paine. i didn't like the whole "tough girl" thing, seemed kinda stupid to me.

I buy 3 games every year. Madden, NHL and Tiger Woods. I did buy GTA III a few years ago and it was a great game (Though after playing for long periods of time, then driving in real life you don't look at a group of pedestrians on the side walk in quite the same way). But when I play those games I can't stop and end up playing for hours on end. So I just stick with sports games where I can stop after a couple games.
