I don't hate CoD. I actually enjoyed it all the way up to CoD4, after that is where they lost me...

I'll be too busy playing Skyrim which will be far better game.
    Agreed.

In I rather someone consistently stick to what they say than always change there mind every second like some people.

Like I said, hating on a video game, would be disliking it simply because it's popular, people play, lack of ability to play it,etc.

I nor Amari fall into those.

The game has just simply been bad.

I'd say the same thing about Madden, I doubt people will call be a hater, for the most part people would agree.

If I said what I said about any other game, nobody would care.

Like I said, I liked Call Of Duty 2, Call of Duty 2:Big Red 1, the single player of MW 1 & 2.

    • and yet you two are still in here talking about the game you dislike so much ...

Do us all a favor and when a CoD thread pops up, try to pass it by just once. We know you don't like the game ... others in here actually enjoy talking about the good things in the game and prefer not to hear you two pointing out all the bad things!

      Thanks!!

      • I actually plan on picking up CoD MW3.

It has been a LONG time since I have bought a CoD game. Heck, I remember when the price of the game was worth it for the single-player game alone (as I said it's been a while).

I'm fortunate enough to have some friends who are PC gamers and we hop on steam for it's voice chat functionality and we play co-op against bots. We're always looking for new games, as you can imagine we tend to recycle games...a lot. So a AAA title with bots is a big deal to us.

CoD has them and from what I've read Battlefield 3 won't. Which is a shame as we'd all much prefer to play Battlefield 3. To be fair though most of us think Counter Strike: Global Offensive will ultimately be the better game anyway.

In the end, they're all just remakes, RAGE is the only thing that seems halfway original in the genre recently.

Well that's a good thing because Steam isn't even getting BF3. You'd all have to make an Origin account to play together.

          • Ignoring all the trolls in here.

I'm excited about this game. It looks like a combination of the best of COD 4, MW2, and Black Ops all rolled up into one nice package!

You've got perk balance, weapon balance, and awesome fast-paced gameplay.

If you guys have time, youtube "Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer" and you'll see dozens of videos with actual gameplay.

            It looks fun. Period.

To be fair IB, if you've made your viewpoint clear elsewhere there's really no reason to post in every CoD thread just to say you dislike it. I dislike baseball, but I don't go into every baseball related thread to tell people so. I just don't click on them. It's a much better system.

I'm not expecting much from MW3 but as long as it continues to have fluid ADS mechanics I'll still buy it, because it's the simplest game to pick up and play out there and a lot of my friends will be on it. That's enough for me. I'm naively holding out hope that they will, eventually, come up with the perfect combination of ideas and gameplay mechanics from previous games and release another title I can enjoy as much as I enjoyed CoD2 (and the first month or so of CoD4).

                That's understandable.
But at the same time, every time a thread is made, there is gonna be someone who has something negative to say, either it be a video, sports, entertainment, whatever. So it falls both ways. I can't ask a Chargers fan to no comment in every Broncos thread if they are only gonna say negative things.

This is a forum, a place for debating said subjects. You can't debate if everyone is agreeing on the same thing.

As for the second part of your post.
That is why I don't see any game beating out Call of Duty in sales. IMO and in many other people opinion is has never been the best shooter, but the best at getting sales.

In for the reason in which you stated, there will never be a game(maybe Respawn's game), that will out sell CoD.

The largest number of gamers is the type of gamers, that prefer a game that they can pick up without having to learn much, a game they can put down for months, come back and still play the same way they did before.

1 shooter that's gonna get hammered is Body Count, the controls are stiff and the ADS is trash(there will isn't a ADS). Nobody is gonna buy it because of that.

They don't care if the story or multiplayer is good, but if the controls and ADS are different, that game has a less chance than the next game.

CoD will always be the top in video game sells because of it's simplicity.

                  I think this will change.

Valve is trying to play nice with EA and has put some of their titles on Origin (to be fair it's the games they sell for $5 or less every time a sale rolls around).

I get that EA wants to treat origin like their own private "console" with exclusives but the fact is it's a different game on the PC. There are free 2 play business models that work quite well, some of them are even pretty fun. Those curious should check out League of Legends.

It is my belief that Valve is diving head first into free 2 play models, they did it with Team Fortress 2 and if you've read any interviews with Valve employees the phrase "games as a service" sees a lot of limelight. I think that's free2play and it wouldn't shock me one bit if Dota 2 and Counter Strike: Global Offensive are free2play as well. If it gets people on Steam it's a big win for Valve, as it doesn't take long for the consumer to realize what Steam has to offer.

EA will realize that Steam is a big $ maker for them and it will end up there. Might take a bit, years even. However, DICE will need every second of that time to get their game in order because true Battlefield titles (Bad Company doesn't count that's a CoD knockoff) suck at launch (and for some time afterwards).

                  • I'm changing this up cause I'm tired of reading IB's webster's dictionary posts...

This is my dream scenario for CoD before the current systems expire...they do something similar to what Halo 3 did a few years ago and release disc with no story mode and strictly multiplayer focus. On the disc it has every map from MW/WaW/MW2/BO/MW3 and then they figure out some kill streak perk system that works across the board and go with it. They would kill whatever competition they have but sadly it will never happen...ever

You're right, but a debate isn't always necessary nor on-topic. Any thread that was created to discuss MW will simply turn into an argument if we digress into why we like or do not like the game immediately. The assumption should be that people who don't like the game won't want to post in a thread discussing specific aspects of it and such. You don't like it, which is perfectly fine; and I have a soft spot for it, which is fine as well. Neither of us is trying to force the other to play it, so it seems a shame to clog up the thread for pages and pages. This is just my opinion of course, and everyone posts based upon their own judgement. It's no biggie.

You're pretty much spot on here. The game is simple, has quality mechanics, and there are always lots of people on it. It will always sell, although it's a shame that this successful formula has basically meant the devs can get away with only introducing very minor innovations from game to game. Then again, why re-invent the wheel when it already rolls (from their POV).

Although RE the "pick up and play" aspect. It's a twitch shooter, and certain gametypes do take a degree of teamwork and strategy, so if you've ever played competitively you know you can't stop for three months and pick it up and go flawless off the bat. That being said, if you have a working brain and a relatively accurate shot you'll never do badly either. It's a pretty happy compromise for me, because I have phases where I'll want to play a lot, and also phases where I don't want to play at all. I never have to worry about coming back and being completely terrible, and it only takes a game or two to get back to normal (like you said - it's a fundamentally simple game).

I'm definitely not "excited" for the release though. Which is a shame, because I remember when each new CoD was something I cared about. I know I'll buy it, and that I'll play it, and I'll probably enjoy it, but the Call of Duty franchise has long since lost it's magic. You can have fun on it, but we all know they're not great games from a technical standpoint. Games like Skyrim and BF3 are the ones I'm genuinely looking forward to this year.

True. Although, BF3 has racked up more pre-orders than MW3. MW3 will outsell BF3 overall, but I can see BF3 selling more copies in its opening week than MW3. Past CoD didn't launch off for millions until after Christmas.

If Halo 4 was on PS3 and PC it'd sell as much as CoD. Halo is more popular than CoD in places like Japan. PS3 is more popular in Japan than the 360. Add Halo 4 to 360, PC, and PS3, it'd give MW3 a run for its money.

I personally think battlefield 3 is going to kill this game.
