  • This is over the line, do you agree

This is way over the line, and I hope this game doesn't be made. This is a subject that I want everybody's opinion on this, gamer or not.

So this gaming company wants to make a game, where you play as the guys who did the Columbine shooting and the Va Tech massacre.

You run around killing students and you have the option to commit suicide if you don't wanna get arrested.

Here is a video from Next Gen Tactics talking about it.

Call the FBI and ask them if they can do anything about it. Technically it's supporting terrorism, right?

They should make a game based on 9/11 while they're at it...

Of course this game is over the line. War games are over the line to the losing side but to us we love them because it glorifies our soldiers. A game like this can't glorify anything so they're just making it to get attention. And then there are those that can't differentiate the difference between fiction and real life and they'd probably try to do what they do in the game essentially re-creating the columbine and/or va tech massacre.

No way the game will be made though, this is just to get some publicity.

There's a few why this wouldn't work as a game...

1.The events at VA weren't long enough, to make a lengthy game out of, the longest the game could be at most would be 30 minutes.

              2. Running around a campus and shooting kids doesn't sound like fun. If I want an experience like that, or at least similar, and not based around a tough subject like the VA massacre, I'd buy any of the GTA or Saints Row games.

              3. Who the hell would buy it? I would like to see it compete against games like Skyrim and Mass Effect 3 just for the laugh.

              4. Someone would take action within the first month, whether it'd be taking the game off shelves, or suing.

Idk they could try to make a story out of it by doing stuff leading up to it but I don't think it'd be too accurate then. And I think they'll try to use GTA and Saints Row to get this game made. There are always those people messed up in the head that would buy it.

Although this could all be a clever guise to try and prevent games like GTA from being made.

Also, I don't view war games as "bad". Wars, unlike campus shootings, are something that happens often in today. People understand why there are wars, or could be wars, sometimes wars are necessary, sometimes they really aren't, but never would a game about a guy shooting innocent kids at a college would ever be necessary. So I really wouldn't rub war games in the same boat as this.

GTA has been going strong for over a decade. Their have been numerous attempts to try to bring it down, and all of them have failed miserably.

I would quote but I thinks it's better to just point out things.

But I agree with Amari on each post he made, and yes I could see a lawsuit if this game is made, one being from the parents of the kids and college students that died that day.

As for comparing wars game to this, that is kinda dumb, because war game are reenactments with fiction added. But here reenactments of WWII, Cold War, Vietnam, desert storm, etc. People only cried about 2 war games, in that was one game that was never made because people thought it was wrong, it was a game that was gonna be based on the war in iraq. The second game is Medal of Honor, which is a fictional war game based off the middle east war with the Taliban.

My point is, your not picking names of dead troops, in throwing them in a game.
Everything other than the war, places, and military groups, are made up.

This company wants this game to be realistic to the core.

4 of my friends, and classmates were shot and killed by a kid named Nathan Dunlap my freshman year in high school at the Chucky Cheese restaurant on Illiff and Peoria in Aurora, CO where they worked. I was in the parking lot when it happened waiting for my ride home from a martial arts class. I thought it was a car backfiring at the time. It was muffled, and hard to tell where the sound was coming from. I didn't know any better.

Fast forward to 1999. I was living in the Littleton area and at work less than 5 miles from Columbine when that tragedy took place. I cannot erase the looks of horror on the faces of the customers, and employees who had children at the school at the time when they found out there had been a shooting and the killers were still unidentified and roaming the halls. I lived next to and worked with several people who were affected directly by the shooting. Even though I was lucky enough to not be involved in the event myself I still lived with the end result.

That being said, it makes me very angry to hear something as insensitive and awful making light of the situation. It's no better than someone designing a flight simulator where the object is to crash your plane into a building. The thought of it disgusts me, and those people should be ashamed of themselves.
Is it solipsistic in here, or is it just me?

                            This is insane!

BTW- for those of you who do not know nor live here in colorado or littleton like myself.

Yesterday on 4/20 the anniversary of Columbine some idiots tried to blow up the southwest plaza mall. Which also happens to be almost right across the street from columbine. Just a couple blocks west of it.

They had pipe bombs a blow torch and propane tanks. Some worker saw it early enough and problem was averted. The FBI was there investigating and everything.

Call it a copy cat, or even a tribute to the freak faces eric and dillon but making a game like this can only spark further issues, like the averted disaster at southwest plaza.

Couldnt agree more man. I had friends at columbine, several got to run out the cafeteria. My friend Tanya was the girl who climbed out the window, she is the one on the cover of Time magazine. I did not even go there and I was in the movie bowling for columbine (my feet anyway-haha) but I worked at the bowling alley where they bowled. Also where one of our employees was executed by the robber...That stuff sticks with you forever and it is so unbelievably awful. Just to even think about.

Its that kind of thinking that a part of me, so very small, hopes that they or their parents or kids get cancer and then someone wants to make a game about breaking into a hospital and taking out cancer patients or something. Its all fun and games until that stuff impacts them in their personal life. If it did they would never think about it. EVER!
