Here is a link to the game's site. If you have not heard of this game, or checked it out yet I suggest doing it now as it will be coming out early next month on May 10th.

At first glance it doesn't look all that impressive, but after digging a bit deeper, and seeing all the really amazing features the game boasts I think this is gonna be one hell of a sleeper hit.

I was simply floored by the drastic level of character customization in this game. There are literally endless options for customizing your character, so that no two players will ever be alike. Along with the unique look of your character you will be able to play as several different classes all with unique abilities that can be upgraded and customized to your play style. This is important, because unlike most other FPS games this game is an objective based team strategy shooter that requires specific class abilities working together to complete missions, and win matches.

Some class specific abilities of note are being able to use engineering skills to build gun turrets anywhere on a map that anyone on your team can utilize, or even the ability to hack into your opponents turrets and turn them against their own team. Another sweet ability of note is the ability to disguise yourself as a enemy team member after you kill them, so that you can infiltrate enemy lines and wreak havoc on their team. Each class has special abilities like these that make them unique and valuable.

Another aspect of the game that sets it apart from other games is the interaction with the environment. Unlike other FPS games like CoD, and Halo in Brink every object on a map can be utilized, or interacted with. There is a "smart button" feature that you can use when moving through a level that allows you to traverse over ledges, railings, fences, pretty much anything you can think of. It also allows you to slide, or dive to cover, and scale up larger objects. It gives a fluid, free running feel to the game and provides a lot more options for travelling through an area. It is also based around a physics engine that takes into consideration things like being slowed down by running up a hill, and climbing.

As for the game itself that may be the most interesting dynamic of all. It is a free form game where you can jump between single player and multi player at will. The game generates new plots in the story mode with intersecting objectives, so that no matter where you are in the game you can join a group in action completing tasks before the opposing team. Because the computer generates objectives randomly each session you will never play the same game twice even single player making it an endlessly replayable game. The game will still maintain it's general plot and may even add more to it with DLC. There is no limit to what this game will be able to do with the story.

The videos on the link I provided give a good amount of detail about the game. I already have my copy pre-ordered. I just hope Sony gets off their ass and fixes their network by the time I pick this game up.
Is it solipsistic in here, or is it just me?

I was interested at first... but I'm sick of all these FPS now. I just got Crysis 2 last month and Killzone 3 the month before, so I think I'm done for the year, unless I find it at an exceptional price later on. I'd probably get Portal 2 before this. And there are still a few other games that I have yet to get my hands on. However, if the reviews are really good, I might consider getting it a week or so after it comes out.

        There's still:
        Duke Nukem Forever
        Rage
        Deus Ex: Revolution
Skyrim (although it can be played in 3rd person, and there's no guns, so it can be argued it's not technically a "shooter")
        Resistance 3
        Battlefield 3
        Dead Island
        F.E.A.R. 3
        Bioshock Infinite (possibly)
and probably another yearly installment of Call of Duty.

These are all potentially very good FPS's to keep an eye on. I'm happy, cuz I absolutely LOVE FPS's.

Those are the only ones I care about, and maybe F.3.A.R, but that's about it.

RAGE looks amazing in every way. It's like a combination of Borderlands, Fallout, and Crysis, all games that I like.

And I love Oblivion so I'm highly interested in Skyrim, even though I don't consider it a FPS.

I personally think Duke Nukem is going to bomb, and I've never really been interested in BF and Resistance.

The game comes out pretty soon, definitely not going to get it on release but I thought the intersecting multiplayer and single player gameplay is pretty cool. I also liked how you have endless options to customize your character. Pretty cool, reminds me of TF2 and Mirror's Edge. I did hear the game is more multiplayer oriented, but you play the SP to get EXP and things like that. Even though the online doesn't work, I'll probably get it for my PS3 since I'm guessing the sensitivity of the DS3 will come in handy in this game.

This game is getting some pretty harsh reviews, but from everything I've seen it looks amazing. 2 of my friends have it, I'll probably ask them how it is tomorrow, but has anyone here played it yet? what do you think of it?

Yeah it's getting smashed down by Gamespot and a few other reviewers. But I'll still probably get it used eventually, just not now. From what I've read and seen, the game has a good concept, but it's just not executed well enough.

My friend told me today that the biggest problem was that it had a horrible lag online and that's pretty much the only reason to get the game since the single player is boring. That's what they said, I generally take what my friends say over official reviews since we have similar tastes. They can probably fix the lag with some updates/adding servers but I doubt they do.

That's what I was talking about in my first post. The game is a multiplayer game first, and single player game second. The only thing you're playing against in the single player are against bots, so it gets really old. Definitely at the bottom of my list for games to get this year.

Bummer. I had some high hopes for this game. I'll still get it through gamefly at some point.

I'm definitely gonna get L.A. Noire on Tuesday though I finish my last final at 5PM on Tuesday and then it's straight to Gamestop.

Yeah, I have it and the single player is pretty bland. Haven't been able to play much online, but one of the times I did the latency was horrible!

Anyways, it really lacks in the sense of a stat tracking system. Personally I would like to see how many kills I had, etc.

Also, one of the things that is kind of interesting is the "imbalance". You can choose to either be a Light, medium, or heavy body type. Light body types are faster and can get to more difficult to reach places via SMART, but have less health. Also have a very limited range of guns.

Heavy body types are just ridiculous. You are slower, but have access to miniguns and such and have more health. And once you get miniguns, it kind of makes using any other guns obsolete. Once this gets about a month in I dont expect to see anything but Heavy body types with a bunch of miniguns running around. There really is no incentive to be anything else, which kind of sucks.

I hope they never put stats in. I got this for PC and have had no problems at all. Take it for what it is something to pass time killing other folks thats it. It is a time filler and has been fun in spurts being able to kill folks mindlessly.
