  • Assassin's Creed Movie confirmed.(Video Games to Movies)

I got a couple of articles for you guys, on Assassin's Creed coming to the big screen.

In one article IGN talks about what Ubisoft can do to not have this game fall into the video game to movie curse.

While the other just tells you the movie is confirmed.

But I think it interesting, as a fan of action films, I will more than likely see it, even if it's bad, and as a fan of the game, bad or good, I'd buy the DVD when that comes out after the movie.

But I wanna take this discussion past Assassin's Creed, I want your opinions on Video games to movies, and if you believe in the curse, and is there any games that are not confirmed to be made into a movie, that you would like to see as a movie, and whats your opinion on the thread topic Assassin's Creed.

    IGN:http://movies.ign.com/articles/116/1168874p1.html

2nd article, that also says Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon are possible with Assassin's Creed:http://spinoff.comicbookresources.co...t-recon-films/

An Assassin's Creed movie isn't really huge news. Everyone expected it once we saw those short live action Assassin's Creed episodes.

As for my thoughts on Video game movies in general, Mortal Kombat is probably my favorite one, mainly because it didn't steer away from what made the games good, it had everything that any MK fan would want to see, and that's why it was a good movie overall.

Annihilation sucked because it had almost nothing to do with MK, and the fighting just sucked. The biggest problem with most game based movies are that they have almost nothing to do with the game at all. The upcoming Uncharted movie is going to suck because it's going to have a new plot altogether.

      DOOM
      Tomb Raider
      Tekken
      Street Fighter
      Double Dragon

All of those movies are horrible because they had absolutely NOTHING to with the games whatsoever.

Assassin's Creed has a chance if they include the Animus with Desmond and Lucy, and give the movie a VR feeling while it focuses on Ezio/Altair being the assassin. They could make the Animus similar to how they used the VR effects in Gamer. Give it a good plot, and make sure Ubisoft has some say in the movie. I think it has a chance.

One game I think would make a good movie would be Crysis. Mainly because it'd be simple stuff. Set the movie in New York, and have aliens attacking. Anyone could play Alcatraz as he doesn't ever talk, just get someone to play Prophet, Gould, and those types of characters. Halo could also be good if done right.

Just execute the basic plot of the supersoldier saving the planet from an alien invasion, not much that could go wrong there.

I agree with you for the most part, but MK had one flaw that stride away from the series. Johnny Cage beating Scorpion is the most unlikely thing to happen in the entire series, other than them having Cage win, the movie was good.

The real key for Ubisoft, is having a staff that knows about the game, much like the director of the MK shorts on youtube, whom happens to be someone who plays the games. They need a good director not some half job that thinks he good(Michael Bay).

Just a small heads up, I said to name a game that is not already confirmed to be a movie.

Halo was confirmed to be made into a movie a little after the Halo 3 release, they just keep failing to make budget, and find the right people to play it.

They have had 2 different directors, Peter Jackson was the first to attempt the Halo movie, but it fell apart, and for the past 3yrs Spielberg has been dealing with it, last year he even guaranteed that he will make the movie.

So Halo is in post production at the moment, but Crysis(not a stab at the series) wouldn't fair to well, mainly because of the small number of people that know of it, and the lack of interest of watching another film that stays in one city. People would be drawn to it, but critic will slam it, much like they did to Cloverfield(centered in NY, and sucked), and Battle LA(good movie to me, but critics disliked it).

i dont think theres a curse. Seems they get lost in translation. I waited years for a predator vs aliens movie which was only strengthened by the books only to be disappointed

same could be said of a terminator movie focused on the future war. I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't impressed either

Ive said it before and now again....I'm amazed that there hasn't been a Warcraft movie. I would be extremely please with a movie done similar to their cut scenes that way actors/actresses overshadowing wouldnt be an issue

          crysis would be cool

I was mildly surprised to see a prinse of persia movie before a god of war movie

Well, a God of War movie would be a gigantic ripoff of Clash of the Titans.

Assassins creed is an awesome game but I don't think its story is strong enough for the big screen.

                Oh I do.

Only thing is I think the Templar hype that was built up around Da Vinci Code has died out, so people might not be as interested.

The game is epic (not the "This is epic!" epic, the scope and story etc. of the game) that I think it could translate well to the screen. It is realistic and backed by enough historical figures and places to be legitimate.

Sure what happens obviously isn't history, but I think the characters that the games have incorporated have just enough...mystique maybe...around them that if a plausible alternate history is made it won't be criticized too much.

I disagree, if done right this good be a hell of a movie, even if the templar thing is dying down.

First thing first, the story is wonderful and thats important, characters are great, it even has historic character before they was big.

Really great story can translate well into a film.

As long as the movie isn't low budget looking like many other video game to movie titles (like Doom, Street Fighter, etc) so that it looks visually striking like the game itself and also if they can actually make the story interesting it shouldn't be a bad flick.
