  • Windows movie maker

    Ok so heres my situation...

For my senior research project I researched the history of hockey. For Thursday I have to make a 20 min presentation on it. To help kill time and make the presentation just that much better I wanted to make a 5 min video of some hockey fights and then the class can debate whether or not they agree about fighting in the NHL. (that way I don't have to do anything, yet it kills time and is interactive )

But the only problem is I have never used windows movie maker before and I have run into my first problem which is....How do you take youtube videos and convert them so they can be playable on windows movie maker? Any SAFE sites for that process would be much appreciated. Every converter website I have checked so far looks so sketchy.

Anyways, any tips/sites/help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Well, I guess its a two step process the way I do it on my mac, hopefully the software is compatible with a pc as well.

If you already have a program to take videos off youtube, good.

If not, get the RealPlayer Downloader, it comes with Real1Plater music program.

Once you download the file, you can convert it with a program called Prism, which can convert a movie file into a .wmv file for ya.

Sorry if they don't have those programs for a PC, but that is the way i do it on my mac.

To answer your question... I haz no idea... I'm just now starting to use Windows Movie Maker... I'm planning on starting my first somewhat complex project tonight after I get home. I'm excited for it.

      Good luck on your project!

Flash2x.net is easy. Along with the free Flash2x flash video player.

You can open the Flash2X player, download Youtube videos directly from within the player. It saves them with the .wmv extension, and they open directly into Windows Movie Maker.

So, you only need one thing.

You can use a numbers of programs to rip youtube videos, and download them. Just Google it. As for Windows Movie Maker, I used to use it a lot a few years ago, now I use Sony Vegas to edit my videos.

You can simply convert the video into an audio file, or you can place the video in the audio section of WMV, and it'll play just the audio of that video.

                  I hate Windows movie maker...

Like others have said you have to convert the FLV file you downloaded from youtube and convert it to a wmv file before you do anything and even then you might not be able to use the wmv because Windows movie maker sucks.

Use the Easy YouTube Video Downloader Firefox extension. Download the video as a mpg, drop it in your timeline and edit away.

Frenchy, that same extension will let you download the audio as an mp3 file.
