As you can tell by my sig, I'm really excited for this game. In case you don't know about it, the game is basically like Fallout, literally. It's an open world, post apocalyptic FPS, that borrows heavily from games like Borderlands and Fallout.

Basically, a comet hit the earth wiping out all life except people put into a system of arks. You're the survivor of an ark buried deep below the surface (like vaults in Fallout) and when you emerge society has begun to rebuild itself.

A portion of the old world military survived the impact and has established itself as a wasteland government known as the Authority. The Authority has old world tech and is trying to take over local settlements. You help these settlements fight off raiders and establish themselves. Later you lead them to win against the authority.

So yeah, that's the story in a nutshell. It's almost exactly like the Fallout games, so you'd feel right at home.

A new video has emerged showing off the enemies.

    Here's some more in-depth gameplay.

RAGE is available for the PC, PS3, and 360 on September 13, 2011.

I can't wait to play this game. The fact that it borrows heavily from Fallout and Borderlands is only a good thing in my opinion.

Plus, I always love the shooters id puts out.

    Can't wait to buy this.

Haven't played Borderlands, and I've only played the recent Fallout's, and I like them a lot. Get rid of all the bugs, glitches, and crashes, it's easily one of my favorite game franchises ever.

This game is almost exactly like Fallout, except it's more FPS oriented. I'm willing to bet this will be the best game id software has ever supported. It's guaranteed to be an AAA game, for sure.

...not to mention how gorgeous those graphics are! I've always enjoyed the dystopia theme and to see how well this game portrays post-apocalyptia.

This game is going to own.

RAGE -- Off screen Coop gameplay

Looks really good. I'm glad they're leaving out competitive multiplayer, coop is good enough.

More news for RAGE is that the 360 version will need 3-disc, and it has an install size of 20GB. That shows how massive and highly detailed this game is. id has also confirmed that all versions of the game won't dip below 60fps. That's incredible for a console game that looks so good.

For some reason I'm still not completely sold on it, but I'm expecting to get blown away by it when it comes out anyways.

From what I've seen it seems a little more restricted than Fallout. Maybe I just got the wrong idea off of the initial impressions. It does remind me a ton of Borderlands though, and that game was extremely awesome, but a little too easy. When you were a low level it was pretty challenging, but you'll quickly gain levels and get some really REALLY bad ass guns that are a crap ton of fun but make the game a little too easy IMO. Being able to play through on the super hard mode brought some of the challenge back though.

Also one thing I didn't like about it was the quest system. You leveled too quickly for a lot of the quests, so you'd have a crap load of quests that were boring because they were too easy at your current level that would have been fun 5-10 levels ago.

The gameplay is nothing like Fallout or Borderlands. However, the concept and story is very similar to Fallout. Like Borderlands, RAGE also uses a small amount of cell-shading, which gives it that cartoony-like art style, while having Crysis-tier visuals.

I'd say the game is probably a little smaller than Skyrim, based off the visuals the game is capable of. Although, I wouldn't be surprised if the scale of the game is around that of Fallout.

I know it definitely doesn't play like Fallout, I'm just talking about the giant open land go around and do anything kinda thing. I know there's open world quest kinda thing, I'm just wondering how much random fun stuff you can find to do and how far you can get just exploring random dungeons, getting side quests through dialogue trees etc. If it's like that then I'm really pumped about it.

Is the release date really September 13th? I thought it was October 4th....

You get to do a lot of other stuff as well. Vehicles play a big part in RAGE. You'll use them to travel around, and you can do races to earn money and stuff like that. There's another video that shows off the vehicles in combat, it actually looks like a Twisted Metal type game at that point. It has it's own multiplayer mode as well, so it's kinda like two games in one.

In coop, you play as the Authority I believe.

I also think you can gamble and play games like in New Vegas, but I'm not 100% sure.

Dialogue trees aren't in, but there will be tons of side quests and exploring.

While I like dialogue trees, it really wouldn't make sense for this game, since it's mostly a FPS with a little bit of RPG elements thrown in. It would be pretty cool, but I'm assuming your character is a silent protagonist.

And yes, the release date is October 4th. I already knew I had that wrong, I just forgot about changing it.

LOL that bugee in the gameplay video is seriously straight out of borderlands

this looks to me to be a borderlands game minus the funny comic stuff

honestly that kinda bothers me they ripped off of it so much Borderlands was awesome, this game looks alright.

The only thing that resembles Borderlands to me, is the cell-shading. The thing that gives it the comic book look to it, but that's pretty subtle in RAGE.

This game looks, plays, and has much more to offer than Borderlands imo.

If they ripped off any game, it would be Fallout because the stories are pretty similar. But I don't think they were aiming for that. I tend to enjoy post-apocalyptic type games, we don't have many of them, and this looks really good.

The art style is almost identical to Borderlands as well. Just in general when I first saw it I thought of HD Borderlands. Is the game fully co-op? If so I'll for sure be picking it up....

This is gonna be an expensive fall. It looks like I'm gonna be buying Dead Island, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Rage, Saints Row 3, and Arkham City.

That's like $360 bucks I'm gonna have to pick a couple to put on the back burner.
