This past Tuesday SCC released his most recent album it contains new tracks as well as recreated versions of some of his biggest hits. I have heard about half the tracks so far, and I am blown away. He truly is one of the most talented musicians in the world.

you know, i'm not going to lie... i really can't get on board the Chapman bandwagon.
i love Cinderella and a few others but i dunno. I'll see if i can find his new one on Spotify though.
i guess it's because it's a huge pet peeve of mine that a lot of artists like him (him included) use their concerts to try and get you to donate money to Random Charity Thing or sponsor a child or what have you.
i mean i understand WHY they do it, and i think to an extent, it's necessary and definitely works. but when i have already paid x amount of money to go listen to them SING their music... i don't want to fee like i'm at church during the offering etc.sigpic

I like the way Carmen used to do it back in the day, all of his concerts were free and he just took up a love offering at the end of the concert. You just gave what you felt he deserved and that was that.sigpic

but you always get this giant guilty feeling because you didn't or something.
the "free" concert approach is obviously sweet for fans but it carries that same "guilt-trip" hey come to our concert and we won't charge you... but if you don't give us money we can't keep doing this... *we has a sad*
that said, i'll take a Christian concert over anything secular any day (except Matchbox Twenty and maybe Josh Groban etc). at Christian shows, you almost ALWAYS have an opportunity to meet the bands.
I got to meet Leeland and Phil Wickham when they came to one of the local churches here. Leeland was extremely bubbly and lively after the show but Phil seemed like a jerk. i know he isn't, though so it was different. i think he was just really worn down.
i mean the above mentioned things don't REALLY bother me... because like i said, these guys are doing more than just singing in their careers. they are excellent sources and instruments for missions work and sometimes it's just necessary to plug some of that in the middle of their shows.sigpic

I actually have a hard choice to make because I am buying concert tickets this week and I have to decided between taking my wife to Jeremy Camp (who is good live, I've seen him before) or taking her to Jeff Dunham.....I'm leaning towards the puppets!
As far as the best live christian concert I've ever seen, I doubt South would like them I can't see them as his style to much but I'll toss it in here anyways.
The always ended with that song and it always was just as new to me and I would always end up screaming along with them at the end (I was actually on the front row at that concert at the Filmore in Denver for their final show)sigpic

Jeremy Camp is good live. I've seen him twice. once at Festival Con Dios and another time more recently with Mercy Me, Tenth Avenue North (amazing) and Hawk Nelson (i think i've seen HN like three times for some reason. i'm not that big a fan of them now though).
actually Mercy Me was at Festival Con Dios too lol. I met almost everyone that was there:
Jeremy Camp (he liked my name...said he'd remember it. i thought that was awesome. also he has huge guns for arms lol).
The Benjamin Gate (that band actually broke up and she married Camp).
Audio Adrenaline (they were cool, they had a little European race car that they drove around town in).
Mercy Me
Sanctus Real (their bassist is from Colorado and i was wearing a Bronco related shirt and he noticed and gave me a "bro" hug lol)
Toby Mac was there too, i don't recall if i met him though. didn't really care to though. I'm not really a big fan of his.
oh, that was the first time i'd heard of some of them, i.e. Jeremy. He played that song about his previous wife that died of cancer. that was intense.
I've also met Skillet. we got to go to a radio show while they were in town once. they were on the hard rock station giving an interview and played a couple of unplugged songs. then we hit up the concert later, but that was the second time i saw them.
a few of these guys i'd seen at something they used to put on here in town as an alternative to Halloween. So i saw Skillet there once, Hawk Nelson, Run Kid Run and some others over the years.
the one band that is like one of my all time favorite Christian bands that has been to Boise like 4 or 5 times and I've missed every single time is Jars of Clay. something always comes up and i miss out. mostly working or something or i have no idea they're in town until that week lol.
oh i did get to see Michael W. Smith and Third Day. that was an AMAZING concert for sure.sigpic

just checked this album out on Spotify. I have to stick with my original stance on SCC because this album is just... i dunno, it's nothing new for him and most of the tracks are re-hashes of previous material of his. i guess i just don't hear or feel the sincerity or heart when he sings. it's almost like he's gotten too "main-stream" or too "big"
i mean i know he's not like that...and he has a passion for what he does but...like i said before i just can't normally get into his music.
i do love "Cinderella" though, that was an amazing song but it makes me think of my daughter and given what happened right after he wrote that etc... it kind of has more weight.
*shrugs* but if you guys are fans of his other stuff you'll probably be okay with this one.sigpic
