  • The Johnny Cash Project

In collaboration with director Chris Milk, Aaron Koblin, Rick Rubin, and the Johnny Cash Estate, we produced an interactive website and completely crowd-sourced music video celebrating “American VI: Ain’t No Grave”, Johnny Cash’s final studio recording. We developed a custom web-based painting tool that allowed visitors to create and share their vision for any single frame of the music video. These original portraits were then strung together and played in sequence over the song, creating a moving, ever-evolving homage to the musical icon. Site visitors can stop the video at any point and witness that frame come to life with a time-lapse of the artist’s brush strokes. The complete crowd-sourced animated music video resulted in a breathtakingly beautiful homage to The Man in Black.

If you're a fan of the Man in Black, I urge you to check out this website. You'll love it.

Even if you are only a casual fan, you will probably still want to check this out.

Go to the about page and it will tell you all about it.

I've already submitted 2 contributions to it!!!

Oh, that's pretty cool. My dad's a massive Cash fan so I've got a huge collection.
I might pull out the Wacom tablet and contribute something later.

If you pause and start looking at all the different submissions, it give you an option to "draw this frame."

Might be kind of cool if a bunch of us all do the same frame.
