  • Xbox 360 exclusive zombie MMO and XBLA game!

The first game will be an XBLA game codenamed "Class3". It'll release around Q1 2012.

And the MMO -- "Class4" won't be here until around Q4 2012. I'm so excited for both.

Looks really impressive for a console MMO. The game will not be released on the PC or PS3. And it's being made by Undead Labs who's led by Jeff Strain.

He was previously the lead programmer of Blizzard's MMORPG World of Warcraft; he also created the StarCraft campaign editor and worked on Diablo and Warcraft III. He is credited as a programmer and executive producer for Guild Wars.

There's also James Phinney -- He was the Game Design Team Lead for Guild Wars. He started as a programmer at Chaos Studios, which later became Blizzard Entertainment. He worked on Warcraft II and Diablo, then as lead designer and producer on StarCraft. James also wrote the story and dialogue for Shiny Entertainment's Sacrifice.

There are 14 total ex-ArenaNet employees and many more who worked on console games across various platforms.

I'm not into this Zombie craze, but it does look nice. I wonder if they're finally doing what no one else is doing....Maxing out the consoles graphic card.

Not this this time. They aren't going to max out the engine for an MMO. The MMO will have hundreds of zombies on screen sometimes and dozens or hundreds of humans. The XBLA game may end up having better graphics though, but nothing on the level of Crysis 2 I'm guessing.

I like to hear he had his hand in the creation of Diablo, being a Diablo fan.

Interesting to see if they charge a monthly service charge in order to play since it's an MMO.

He was the executive producer of Guild Wars, and that didn't have a monthly fee, so I doubt it at this point. At the very least, I don't think we'd have to pay $60 for XBL and a monthly fee. Silver members will most likely be able to play the game, they would just need a fee.

I just do not see mmo's being that good without a keyboard, mouse setup.

A very common misconception. Not all MMO's play or work the same. Class4 will be an open world sandbox MMO, and I'm assuming it'll be a FPS or TPS. Why would you need a keyboard and mouse to play a shooter? That's basically like saying Halo is only good on the PC, and we all know that isn't true.

Besides, DC Online worked pretty well on the PS3, and that's an MMO.

WoW wouldn't work on a controller very well, but there's no reason why any new MMO designed for consoles couldn't work with one.

Coming from the old school Quake days then unreal tournament, I rather play shooters with keyboard and mouse. I hate shooters on the 360 because of that.

It should be easy for the console makers to give players option.

When you said mmo, I had more of the everquest line of mmos on my brain.

USB Keyboards and Mouses are actually compatible with the Xbox 360. Microsoft would want to update the drivers first, but it's possible the MMO will support KB/M, but I'm not sure if they would implement it. Maybe with an update, but not many games (if any) use KB/M on the Xbox.
