Yes, that was the single biggest failure of the prequels.

Also, they shouldn't have started with him as a kid. The first one should have been Jedi Anakin, the second should have been the turning, and the third one should have been a full-on Darth Vader movie.

I actually liked Hayden as Anakin in III, not so much in II. But it has to play along the story.


You can't have Gerald Butler play a love sick, lost, rookie jedi, whom is unsure about his life.

Jedi are finesse like Ninja, If anything Vader with JEJ voice was way to tough for the story, by "A New Hope" Vader should of been a broke old cyborg with no reason to live like he was kinda was in RotJ.
Don't get me wrong, I think your idea of having the movie with Anakin being the bad ass hero all the time would be cool, kind of a live action of the cartoons LOL! But that wouldn't make him the Victim Lucas wanted him to be.

That would've made the movies worse. If they started off from where Anakin became a Jedi Knight, that would've left a lot of unanswered questions. Starting from his childhood was the best way to do it. Also, if the third movie was all about Vader, it would screw up TFU canon, because it wouldn't have shown when Starkiller became Vader's secret apprentice. Besides, all Vader really did after he started out was kill tons of Jedi. That doesn't sound like an interesting movie. He did fight Darth Maul, so that would've been cool to see, but that's about it.

I liked Hayden as Anakin. He wasn't perfect, but I thought he did the anger and transition from Anakin to Vader really well.

The problem with the prequels was just the writing and dialogue, they had a good cast who did the best they could with what they got. Natalie and Ewan weren't much better than Hayden.

Also, I always thought they were trying to show that Vader and Anakin are two different people. You're complaining that Anakin isn't as "badass" as Vader is or whatever, he's not supposed to be.

They couldn't have been worse. And trying to avoid "unanswered questions" was part of the problem. And worrying about "canon." They should have made some good movies, instead of the soul-killing crap that ruined a whole universe.

We don't need to see Anakin become a Jedi. He could have been just like Obi-wan in the first one, already going.

And Vader didn't "do" anything -- it's a fictional story. They could have featured anything that they wanted to in the movie. Such as a final surge for the good guys that leads to the Rebel Alliance being founded.

Lucas just screwed the pooch all around. His fatal error was making the fall of Anakin being tied to the formation of the Empire. It shortened the timeline and made Obi-wan into a whimpering bag of fail out in the desert -- only 19 years after the Empire ascended!! 19 years ago Brett Favre was playing quarterback.

TFU? LOL! Would you have subscribed to the White Vader story line too?
The SW Universe wasn't at "peace" after III. All the clones except Vaders 501st rebelled, The Emperor destroyed the Caminoes, Wookies, and other worlds who didn't want the "Empire". Lots of fun stuff.

I think a story line during The Great Galactic War would be cool.

The problem with the prequils, besides the dialogue, I think was the fact we all knew what was ganna happen. So we didn't have that "root for the hero feeling" you had with the first 3. It was like watching the Super bowl knowing the Broncos didn't make it, and because you had to work you missed the game, and someone told you that the Colts won anyway.

And no Falcon. LOL! I don't think it was the accident Lucas makes it out to be that the same actor that played the outsider with a fast car in American Graffiti also played the outsider with a fast ship in Star Wars.
