  • Soulja Boy: Disses Army Troops in one of his pathetic 'rap' songs

Rapper Soulja Boy has sparked outrage from a military veteran after making controversial derogatory comments about the military in his new song.

The hip-hop star provoked criticism after debuting a video for his new track "Let's Be Real" online, which contains the lyrics, "F**k the FBI and the army troops... fighting for what? Be your own man... I'll be flying through the clouds with green like I'm Peter Pan."

Retired Marine Fred A. Flores is demanding an apology from Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, over the "offensive" lyrics.

Flores, who is now a commissioner for the Los Angeles County Veteran's Advisory Commission, tells TMZ.com, "It's a very offensive statement... especially with the 10th anniversary of 9/11 coming up.

"He should apologize to ALL armed forces. (The rap) is very irresponsible, especially for a person who is an entertainer for the youth of our country."

I don't find it any better or worse than anything else he or many other rappers say.

It would be insulting coming from anyone other than Soulja Boy. Coming from him, it's about as awful as when a baby calls you "poopy pants" - although the baby probably put more thought into what he was saying.

I actually watched gaga perform on the VMAs and she somehow won me over. Not sure how but she did. I feel she is a swagger jacker and all but she can put on a live performance something most artist cant do.

With soulja boy he raps with no purpose. I feel like if your gonna make a statement that bold or ballsy then have some purpose make a point or something. He is controversial for no reason just sounds like a loud mouth and sadly this is the opinion most non hip hop listeners form of rappers. The sentence right after that was... Idk how to describe how bad it is. He had a one hit wonder and is still going.

Well, I've been to 3 combat tours..

i did a 12 month in iraq, turned around 18 months later did another 15 months in iraq, turned around 12 months later, and did 9 months in Afghanistan...

As a 12B Combat Engineer, we are always the first to be sent out on mission, and our job is to search for and destroy any enemy counter mobility ( IED's/Roadside bombs, and mine fields) which is called "route clearance". I have been in multiple fire fights, between all three combat tours my vehicles have been hit by 9 IED's which i suffered broken bones, torn ligiments, and concussions, which til this day has created a number of random migraines for me... I have lost 6 really close friends, which I called my brothers... Im a recipient of the silver star, and purple heart for being injured in combat, and going out my way, to save a fellow soldier in an hazardous situation...

Did all this without ever once complaining, or asking for anything in return, In which all of us Combat Veterans do... and at the end of the day I basically gotta hear Soulja Boy who spells the word "Soldier" as if he never graduated from elementary school say Eff me??...

I find it very offensive and insulting.. smh..

This is the thanks we get, when we risk our lives, and our personal health so he can make garbage CDs...

When I expressed my frustration with the US Army, not only did my words come out wrong, I was wrong to even speak them. So, I write this to give my sincerest apology to all members of the United States military services, as well as their families that were offended by my most recent lyrics.

As a young man who grew up in the post-9/11 era, I have watched our country fight two wars that seem like they are never going to end.

I have seen thousands and thousands of our brave men and women get killed in battle and often times, I think for what? A lot of people in this country are struggling to make ends meet and I think a lot about what if we had never gone to war.

Where would our economy be? Our schools, our after-school and work programs, our streets? I mean, damn, 48 people got shot in New York City just this past weekend ... in 3 days ... I'm not saying that it is just because of a bad economy, but at a certain point we have to take care of our own people.

In no way would I ever want to offend those who are protecting our freedoms ... a lot of homeboys who I grew up with, a lot of people who come from the neighborhoods we live in ... In no way do I want to hurt any of our honorable soldiers who put their lives at risk, regardless of how they feel about the two wars we fight in.

I am just frustrated that we haven't been able to bring you all home quick enough and my frustration got the best of me. I am deeply sorry.

                            ~Soulja Boy"

Soulja Boy says he let his "words get the best of [him]" when he released a new rap video saying, "F**k the troops," and now he's issued a full apology to the entire U.S. military.

                              No surprise.

It doesn't shock me one bit.

                              Nothing surprises me anymore.
