Battlefield 3 Beta

Just played my first match of the beta.

Pros: Controls feel good, weapons are nice, character animations are nice.
Cons: Prawn is being just the way battlefield players feared. It's being used for people to lay and hide.

The map isn't really good until you get into the subway.

I will say more and add more when I play more than 1 game.

Edit: It's really laggy, so if you don't have a strong connection, don't bother playing.
They said the beta graphics are not the same as the final game graphics. In other words the graphics are not as good as the latest video.

So don't go in, thinking you're gonna see top natch BF3 graphics.

When you first start off you don't get any weapons other than 1 gun(AK-74u)

What did you think prone would be used for?

I'm sure the lag is just because it just opened. Beta's always have gobs of lag the first day.

And yeah I'm not sure what else you'd use prone for

Game is great so far, its like BFBC2 on roids. The graphics look good for a one gig beta. Hate only getting one map but I just keep thinking about getting to play an updated Strike at Karkand.

To me it actually feels more like a juiced up Medal of Honor than Bad Company.

It's smoother than BC2, quicker, and easier.

As to what I said about prone.

The point of prone is to tactically move around the map, sneaky or for cover. Not hiding and camping in between trash cans.

Game is great, but you can only play it for so long since it's one map and one game type.

It's just odd that these are not the retail graphics or the game, yet the beta looks better than any of the current FPS games other than Reach and Crapsis 2.

Well since the map you play on is in a city and subway, you can't glitch on top of mountains.

The running is like Medal of Honors running if you ever played it. The character isn't all hopping like in BC2.

It's honestly like a fixed better Medal of Honor.

Yeah people keep comparing it to Bad company 2. I think if anybody played Medal of Honor, that's what they would compare Battlefield 3 to.

People ask me about the sniping.

For each sniper rifle, all shots are 2 hit kills, 1 hit for head shots.

Well the beta is open to the public starting tomorrow isn't it? Definitely looking forward to playing some games over the weekend

I forgot about MoH to be honest lol. I played it but it felt like EVERYONE camped in that game and sniper rifles were way over powered. I played about 5 matches last night, gets a little boring only getting to play that one level and I prefer conquest over rush. The destruction is pretty cool and I hear they had to tone it down for the beta. The beta is only a litle over one gig on the ps3 so I can only imagine what the retail game is going to be like.

On 360 it's 1.30GB.

Well everyone camps on the xbox BF3 beta, but since the sniper rifles got nerfed, no one uses them.

DICE said their PS3 version of BF3 is better than Call of Duty's xbox version or Modern Warfare 3.

They never said which version of it's own will be better or superior than the other, other than PC. In which they said everything was toned down compared to the PC.Graphics, destruction, number of players,etc.

Well, more so from a graphical standpoint. Almost all the footage of BF3 I saw, was either the PS3 or PC. There are even some comparison videos of the PS3 and PC version. Obviously, the PC looks better in every way, but it makes me wonder why DICE barely showcased the capabilities of the 360 version. Crytek did the same with Crysis 2. They only showed off the best looking version which was the 360. Not including PC obviously.

In terms of performance, the PS3 version will probably be the worst.
