  • Kingdom of Amalur Reckoning

Thought this game looked pretty good and didn't see a thread for it. But this game is a RPG and has a world of Warcraft look to it but it is single player only and comes out in Feb.7 2012

R.A. Salvatore helped create the universe that this game takes place in. (he is the creator of Drittz Do'Urden

This website has a quick run down of alot of information about this game

For Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning on the Xbox 360, a GameFAQs message board topic titled "Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Info V. 1.0".

But I know with skyrim coming out that people will probably still be busy with that by the time this comes out, but I think this game should be fun.

Unfortunately it's an EA product...even my getting Mass Effect 3 is "iffy" let alone this game.

Shame as I'd been following it for a while, has potential in my opinion.

Yeah EA has a habit of ruining games, but maybe they will let me have a least one good RPG to play lol. Well I will have skyrim, but I need another RPG to move on to since Mass Effect I have had such a hard time getting into and I don't know why. I started the first almost beat it then stopped, and came back to beat it and started the second one and never came back. But I hope this game can be good since I really like real time RPG games.

Just bumping this thread to let people know that there is a Demo out for the 360 (I know this because i have it don't know about other systems). The combat is smooth, and from what I heard its an early demo so some of the bugs should be fixed. I didn't get a whole lot of time with the Game, before I called it a night, but I thought it was fun.

Camara was a little clunky but I managed to get use to it right away, but looks like it could be a decent game. But I would wait to find out if bugs were fixed, because my game was cut short because the game froze

Also after reading around on their site found out the demo was made by a third party which is what is creating alot of these bugs. EA's handy work doing its best to ruin things, since EA wanted a Demo it got outsorced to a third party, and in doing so created alot of bugs that are seen in the demo. So I think I will probably give this game a shot come Feb 7th

Ah the famed EA signature .... I stopped playing games on the xbox because of the cheapness of the EA product (mainly the madden franchise)

Yup this was completly EA's fault on this one. Because EA wanted a Demo they had a part of the game cut out and a third party made it which created way to many bugs. But it seems like the company in charge of making the game is in touch with the community so as long as EA doens't force their hand into the game to much it should be a really fun game. The combat is great and so very fluid, considering it really like a one button attack. Sorta like Fable, but in my opinion done better.

I did try the demo and I basically got a black screen until I shut it down and turned off a graphical option. Once I got everything running smoothly I did enjoy the game a great deal. I think Birdman or someone else compared it a bit to Fable and I'd agree BUT combat-wise and about everything else I did Amalour was much better.

However $60 is a TON of money for a game these days (PC at any rate) so this one will depend heavily on the scores of reviewers. I won't lie though I'd love to stick it to EA and make sure that more copies of Amalour are sold on Steam than that Origin POS that they keep forcing on PC players.

Is anyone else just glad to have something that isn't a sequel?

Yeah the combat in this game I thought was done really well and I like how the company isn't owned by EA but the demo had alot of bugs because EA wanted a demo so they outsourced it to be done by some one else which created bugs that aren't supposedly in the final build.

But there is one of those online passes for console games to get a faction included, but according to the devs that was dlc that was already done and they are giving it free to those who buy the game new. But that is one thing I like about the company and that is on their board they post quite a bit and are always talking with the community which is a change.

O and about that sequal thing it sounds like they plan to.make a second one already, but
They already have been working on a mmorpg since before this game so that will be interesting. Hoping this company is able to make enough money that they wont need EA to publish the game.

It's hard to put into words how bad EA sucks.

So how is this game? Looks like it would've made a great multiplayer game.

I'm sorry but that reeks of "Part of the game but removed to give you a reason to pay more money if you buy it used."

EA is still up to their old tricks it would seem.

That it is, one of the reasons I love indie developers and why I go out of my way to support their games.

I know it doesn't answer your question but go try the demo if possible, otherwise it seems like a cross of Fable and Dungeon Siege.

I understand what you mean about EA they have a tendancy to ruin good games, because of greed. At least for this game EA is just the publisher (which they still got their greedy hands into it to do things ) But they do not own 38 Studios/ Big Huge Games, which I like.

But like Puddle said try the demo if you can, but this is one thing EA got their greedy hands on, because they like I said they wanted a demo so it got outsorced and that caused a few bugs in it. But if you like action RPG's this looks like it will be a good one.

As far as multiplayer it was made to be a single player RPG, but I agree that even a 4 player multiplayer that works like diablo would be nice, but I can see why they didn't do. But good news is they have been working on a MMORPG that takes place with all this lore.

Played the demo on the 17th when it first came out.

Only played it and downloaded it because of Mass Effect, didn't think i'd like it. It's alright, not a first day buy or worth $60.

I'll play it when it drops to about 30 bucks.

This. I downloaded it specifically for the ME3 armor, but I thought; sense I was already on the menu I might as well try it. Played it for like 15 minutes.. it wasn't bad. But it felt almost exactly like Fable which wasn't my favorite game ever. I don't think the conflict drew me in quite as much as a game like Dragon Age Origins.
