Hmmm. Should actually be pretty good. I felt at first when we heard they wanted to make this right after the trilogy ended that it was just a gag to get more money out of the fans... but Jackson seems to not have disappointed.

Definitely going to check these two out.

It was all over the news the past couple years. Setbacks and everything. Originally Guillermo Del Toro was going to do it while Jackson produced it. But then he backed out.

Then, FOX or some other studio tried to shut down filming because they owned the rights to a Hobbit movie they were hoping to make some time ago but it fell through. But, since they were given permission Jackson has to give them some royalties now.

But, finally being made. The second movie is supposedly going to finish the Hobbit story and then provide background leading up to the Fellowship of the Ring.

I'm personally thrilled that Jackson is directing it. Guillermo Del Toro is a very good director, but I'm not sure that his style would have been similar enough to Jackson's to prevent the transition between Hobbit and LotR from being a little jarring.

That being said, it's good to see that the key actors have each returned to their roles. Again, important to create that sense of continuity.

I do wish, however, that they'd just made one big movie. I know they want to be faithful to the source material, but c'mon. I read it in a day.

Thanks Charlie for the heads up!

It needs to be made as it brings a lot to the LOTR series. I read the books all starting with The Hobbit. I am glad to see it done, especially by Jackson!

I didn't like the second trailer as much as the first, didn't seem as epic.

There have also been a pile of still shots released of the series.

                        really excited for this one!
