Just picked up the book. I prefer to read the book before seeing he movie. I'll probably catch the movie when it hits DVD.

Has anyone read the book and watched the movie? How close is the movie (American version) to the book?

I read the book and watched most of the movie. The Swedish version is pretty darn close.

I don't know. To me, the book was very....European. And it's obvious why. If the American version is more Americanized, I think I would probably like the movie better than the book.

It obviously is in English and in instances where the person watching the movie needs to be able to read something, it puts it in english. But the stores are still in Sweden, everything is Swedish. The story takes place in Sweden so .. they didn't change that. But, they of course speak english and in instances where you are supposed to understand what they are reading, that is in English.

The ending is to help set up the next one.

He, clearly, did not reciprocate those feelings ... hence that ending. In the book it was a very nice Elvis Jacket that she had repaired (if memory is right). But, if you are talking about her walking around stealing that CEO's money - that also sets up the next movie and why she suddenly is "quite wealthy".

The series is already out (Swedish Version) which are pretty good. But, not quite as good as this version, IMHO.

Sadly, since Steigg Larsson died, the series likely will not be finished. Though, I read that there are notes for a possible fourth or fifth book..

                      Told you it was awesome

I loved when Orinoco Flow was playing when Mikael was all tied up ... then when Lisbeth was sneaking in.

That scene keeps replaying over and over ...
