I think Chris Evans did a good job as Captain America. He wasn't my favorite performance by any means, but he definitely didn't ruin the character for me. What probably annoyed me the most was the whole Hulk situation in general. Just knowing that there was a recast out of nowhere ruined my anticipation with the movie (pertaining to Hulk). I REALLY liked Ed Norton as Bruce Banner and I liked his Hulk the most. I felt Norton's character was more serious than Ruffalo's (who did a fantastic job), and was more believable in the sense that he's an angry depressed scientist trying to get rid of the Hulk.

After watching the movie I can see why Norton had a problem with the script. Some of the things Ruffalo did in this movie are pretty much things Norton's counterpart wouldn't have done at all. As I've said, Norton's character was more serious and some of the funny interacting scenes with Tony Stark wouldn't have worked out all that well. Unfortunately, every scene involving Hulk/Banner I had the conflicting mindset of that just being Norton and offering a whole different experience altogether. But as I said, Ruffalo was amazing as well.

Same thing with Iron Man. Even though I liked Don Cheadle as Rhodey over Terrence Howard, I still hated the idea of recasting the character out of nowhere, especially since his role was already established by the end of the first movie.

It'll be interesting seeing where they'll go from here as far as the sequel. A lot of the popular choices like Spider Man and Wolverine have ZERO chance of being in any Avengers film, which kinda sucks.

He didn't have a problem with the Avengers script (as far as I know). He peaced out because the studio bastardized HIS script of The Incredible Hulk. He wrote it and wanted it to be his own thing. Apparently it was supposed to be a lot longer and a lot darker than it was and the studio came in and mashed it all up and re-wrote things and pissed Norton off.

It's too bad the studios only care about one thing because they're going to screw us all out of getting to see some of our favorite crossovers from the comics like cameos from Spiderman, Wolverine and Beast (among others).

I too would've loved to have seen Norton in the Avengers. I think it would've completely changed the dynamic of the film, but as everyone has agreed, Ruffalo did a fine job.

I haven't read through the entire thread so someone might have said this...

But am I the only one who thought the Captain America suit looked like something I made out of old clothes in my garage?

Seriously though, awesome movie. That was my only complaint.

It was a really good movie.

However, I was actually kind of disappointed, as it was way to over-hyped.

I think ruffalo did a great job in the film, however when this my personal opinion but i felt that he was to stocky for banner. I dont know I always imagined my banner as a lanky twig. I like the contrast between the hulk and the weakling banner. Just my personal nitpick

Watching the previous hulk films, norton did look lanky as opposed to both bana and ruffalo.

Yeah, Cap's costume looked better in first avenger. The Avengers costume looks more streamline.

What would have happened if Hulk ate the Tesseract?

The same as a normal person after taco bell, but in all seriousness IMO the hulk would simply be ripped to shreds because he wouldnt be able contain the infinite power of the tesseract. Although he is extremely powerful he is not indestructible as can be seen from the previous Hulk movie.

oh someone in the Movie thread with a similar name as yours (maybe it was captainbronco) brought up that Captain America is the only one that has been able to lift Mjolnir other than Thor. I thought it was you. Unless it was you. lol

I'd be a little surprised not to see Beta Ray Bill in Thor 2. He actually fought and beat Thor TWICE in the comics, and they later became allies. I don't think he'd look all that much out of place in a movie. Heck, I was surprised how well Loki fitted in.

I could see that -- most of the speculation is that Thanos will be the villain in Thor 2, not the next Avengers. So with a cosmic threat like that, easy enough to work Beta Ray Bill in as the last surviving warrior from one of the planets they've already gobbled up.

I doubt a villian of thanos caliber would just be In thor

I have a feeling thor 2 is gonna be taking place before the avengers
