  • New JJ Abrams Show Revolution

I posted something on this in my entertainment group for discussion but thought I'd post it in here as well and see what people thought of it, looks pretty cool from what I can see

Star Trek producer/director JJ Abrams has sold another high concept TV series. This time JJ is returning to NBC for the post-apocalypse with "Revolution," with a pilot directed by Jon Favreau. More details below.   JJ and the apocalypse Multiple Hollywood trades are reporting that NBC has picked up Revolution from Warner Bros. Television and JJ Abrams Bad Robot. Abrams and Eric Kripke (Supernatural) will executive produce along with Abrams’ Bad Robot partner (and fellow Star Trek producer) Bryan Burk. The pilot was written by Kripke and directed by Iron Man’s Jon Favreau. Here is a description: “In this epic adventure thriller, a family struggles to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology — computers, planes, cars, phones, even lights — has mysteriously blacked out … forever.” The cast includes Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) and Billy Burke (Twilight). NBC has also released an official image for the show.   The cast of "Revolution" – coming next season on NBC Abrams to have shows on 3 networks next season This is a big return for Abrams to NBC. Abrams last worked with NBC on his spy couple series Undercovers, which was cancelled half way through its first season in 2010. Abrams later admitted he "f–ked up" on that show, but apparently NBC still want to work with the prolific producer. Abrams also will have shows on two other networks next season. Fringe has already been picked up by FOX for their fifth and final season and CBS has already renewed Person of Interest for a second season. Fox is still considering whether or not to give Abrams’ Alcatraz a second season, with a decision due soon, however it doesn’t seem likely. Today TVByTheNumbers gave the show’s odds at only 15% for renewal.    UPDATE: Alcatraz reportedly back in the history books It isn’t official yet, but Deadline is reporting that (as expected) Fox will not be renewing Alcatraz for a second season.

I was talking with Elway about it in the group and he pointed out that it looked a lot like Jericho and I completely agree it reminds me a lot of that the pilot was directed by Jon Favreau.

Looks unbelievably amazing. Can't wait. Glad Fox didn't pick it up because they will just cancel it after one or two seasons like all their other hit shows.

Saw the trailer, looks pretty good. Jericho was an awesome show btw, sucks that it got cancelled. Hopefully this will be as good and actually last for more than two seasons.

I dunno Fox has been fairly good to Abrams (ok well aside from alcatraz but that never seemed interesting to begin with) I'm just happy fringe got renewed.

          1. Alacatraz was great. And it had pretty good ratings.
          2. Hasn't Fringe been canceled before and then they brought it back?

No it's never actually been cancelled yet, they were going to make this the final season but renewed it for one last season at 13 episodes. At this point I think that's a fair amount of season's to tell a good story.

Ok. Never watched it. My brother watches it and has complained several times that it was on board to be canceled. So I assumed as some point that it was.

If you've never watched it you are really missing out, I actually like it more than I liked lost and I really liked lost.

Actually Terra Nova was one of the most watched shows of the fall. And Alcatraz had pretty good ratings too. That's why I'm glad Fox didn't pick this up. They have a history of dumping shows that do well.

Why on earth are they using bow and arrows and flintlock muskets.

You don't need electricity to re-manufacture bullets.

People would die of starvation and killing each other off way, way, way before you'd ever come close to running out of the massive stores of pre-built bullets and also pre-made reloading stuff.

But somehow there are plenty of muskets, black powder, and lead balls lying around?

Yeah but my point is you are trying to discuss something from a 4 minute trailor. Not discussing a show or movie you have already seen. So my point is if you wait and find out they may very well tell you why they are using the weapons that they are.
