So...as far as recent entries into the "Horror Genre" Cabin in the Woods was one of my favorite movies from the past 5 years. It really pays homage to the old school B Horror Movie genre and has a unique story.

If people watch it in the same sense that they watch the Evil Dead trilogy as a dark horror comedy I think they would have enjoyed it more. A lot of people I knew tried to watch the movie too seriously and ended up hating it. I personally loved it.

I agree entirely.I am right there with you, I loved it and thought it was absolutely one of the best entries to the genre in a long long time.

That's just it though is it is a comedy. So if you are looking for an actual horror and gore then Cabin in the Woods is a horrible fit for what he is looking for.

And IMO I knew exactly what the goal of the flick was and still hated it.

My guilty pleasure is horror movies….

The Omen is the one that scared me the most to this day…. still creeps me out.

I know the OP's probably no longer looking for suggestions, but I enjoyed browsing the posts here….

One I recently liked was Mama…. just creepy….

Imo the best horror film of all time is the original Halloween.
