I'm amazed no one is talking about that trailer yet.

    John Williams is amazing.

For me it craps on the originals and makes them worthless.

For example, after the original trilogy the following were a given.

      1) Luke was going to recreate the Jedi; Luke also proved he would not abandon his friends (through the Cloud City fiasco and the fact that he masterminded the rescue of Han from Jabba's Palace)
      2) Han and Leia were a happy couple; Han was faithful and no longer left at the first time if trouble (as he tried to do in IV and V)
      3) The Empire was defeated

But VII says the following happened

      1) Luke abandons his friends and family by fleeing to some unknown planet; he failed to restore the Jedi
      2) Han and Leia split and he returned to his old ways of fleeing at the first sign of trouble (by abandoning Leia and the Resistance)
      3) The Empire just rebranded itself as the First Order

Luke, Han, Leia, and the Rebellion were a failure. That is the premise of Force Awakens.

As for 1) We don't know the reason yet, and beyond not knowing the reason, have you ever had to witness children you invested a lot of time and effort into (and likely cared a lot for) being slaughtered? I would have to imagine that it changes your outlook on life a lot. Just having one person close to you die can completely alter you and damage you.

      2) In the books it goes deeper into this, it may in the movies as well. Han immediately went on a mission leaving leia behind barefoot and pregnant to try and free chewie's planet from imperial control. That's going to drive a wedge in there... It makes sense.

      3) Do you really think one victory is going to forever destroy the empire? Yes, the emperor died, but in the vacuum a power struggle happened and other high ranking officials fell into positions of higher command. There is nothing illogical about that (and again, the books expand this) The Empire was a gigantic war machine that ruled the galaxy with an iron fist. That was not by far the entirety of their forces in the battle of Endor.

Even the original EU books had the empire continue to strive and be a problem for the republic. Towards the end of the original EU cannon, the now "galactic empire" was still fighting the new republic and trying to regain control. There isn't anything about any of that "spitting on the original's".

I was not someone who originally liked it and then decided to hate it later. I almost walked out of the theater during Ep. 7. The movie seemed to last FOREVER. Hated it from pretty much beginning to end. I went in with massive expectations though, which was probably unfair. I tried to watch it again awhile later reminding myself it was a horrible movie. I couldn't make it past the 15 minute mark. I'll just pretend like ep 7 doesn't exist. I did find Rogue One significantly more tolerable though. Much, much better job putting it together (outside of some of the uber-cheesy dialogue from Chirrut Imwe).

However, the new ep 8 teaser looks interesting. A new story, fresh perspective. Something to actually add to the story line. I'll keep my expectations extremely tempered. I'm a massive SW fan... so, I'll still probably see it on opening night.

No, I'm at work. If it's not been posted by the time I get home I will.

They do have it posted over here though
http://www.forbes.com/sites/ericsavitz/2012/10/30/mickey-meet-yoda-disney-to-buy-lucasfilm-for-4-05-billion/ I am thrilled about this. I love all six of the Star Wars movies (part V and III being my favorites) so this is excellent news. It will be interesting to see how other filmmakers approach the stories. Disney did great with Marvel, and this could be just as good if not better.

I just can't get the youtube link at work.

Yup, freaking goosebumps! And for those that complained about 7 being a rehash of 4. This looks completely and totally original and I'm excited!

I'm not so sure about that.

Parts of it look like rinsing and repeating Empire Strikes Back.

                        Here's how:

1: The landspeeder type scene in the desert. They are speeding towards what look like AT-AT Walkers. So, you may expect a landspeeder/AT-AT Walker desert battle. (just swap the snow for the desert and call it original!)

2: Rey is training with Luke to become a Jedi - that "Jedi must end" comment could be what Rey sees in a Force-Induced Vision (much like Luke in the Dagobah cave)

3: Clearly a Rebel base is attacked and destroyed by the First Order (Remember Echo Base?)

4: Something tells me that Rey is going to be leaving the new planet she is training on to rescue her friends (Cloud City anyone?)

God, I hope not! Did you come up with this analysis yourself, Charlie, or is this from a site?

I came up with most of it myself. I read a script leak about 6-7 months ago and it didn't leave me too enthused. I've seen some others online with similar concerns, the photos above were from a generic trailer breakdown.

I'm going to choose to go into it expecting to like it. I'm not going to assume it's crap before I've even seen it.

No offense Charlie, but you seem to have this ability to find negative in absolutely anything and I mean, that's well and good and all. You've taken a 3ish minute clip and are assuming from a 3ish minute clip that it's going to be a rehash of Empire and you are making some rather large stretches of the imagination to do so.

Regardless, unlike some, I greatly enjoyed 7, I will greatly enjoy 8. If it turns out to not be your kind of movie, that has little impact on me so I guess, enjoy it, don't enjoy it, regardless I'm going to still be over here enjoying another great Star Wars sequel. At least it's not another terrible Lucas made prequel.
