Star Wars episode 8 : The last Jedi

The movie was too silly, childish for my taste. It's a Disney movie for kids. I need a dark, mature version of Star Wars written and directed by Rob Zombie or Quentin Tarantino, with a lot of Jedi and Sith stuff going on. -
Hopefully, Disney can appreciate the fandom and legacy of Star Wars (rather than just see it as a galactic sized cash register). Both by trying to make a new masterpiece with each installment, and realizing the time required to do so. Hopefully, TLJ is a worthy entry.
Enjoy the show! :thumb:Leave a comment:

Rogue One was a good movie. Felt like a return to the original style of Star Wars.Leave a comment:

I’m curious about that myself (I just read Rastic’s review above with hopeful optimism).
I thoroughly disliked TFA, and looked at it as a rehashed version of the original Star Wars, replete with nearly parallel plotline, sans original characters. I was extremely skeptical when Disney bought out Lucas for the movie rights, and just assumed that Disney would milk the franchise for every penny that it could.
I don’t know…maybe I’m just a snooty old school ‘Star Wars purist.’ I loathed the idea of Disney diluting such a legendary franchise with over saturation…sadly, I remain skeptical.
TLJ appears to be garnering critical acclaim (with many reviews stating that it is the best Star Wars film since ‘The Empire Strikes Back’)…so, maybe my worry is somewhat misplaced.
Ah the "best film since ESB" sales point! Same was widely said of RotS and TFA after their releases!
We'll see...in about an hour!Leave a comment:

Overall TFA was ok but underwhelmed.
I read a couple reviews for TLJ before seeing it before I realized it wasn't worth it.
I thought TLJ was great, much better than TFA. There are points people can rightly pick apart but nothing I'd say hurts or even fits the style of Lucas' original romanticized storyline. The acting overall felt better.
They seem to be more comfortable sprinkling in some lighthearted humor from time to time.
Don't want to say any more for fear of ruining anything.
Just go and expect to really enjoy yourself. I took my daughter and it was almost as fun watching her watch the movie as the movie itself was.👍 1Leave a comment:

I'd like to hear from someone who disliked TFA on their thoughts on this one.Leave a comment:

I've heard from pretty much everyone that has watched it that it was excellent. I'm going tomorrow at noon, debating if I want to see it 2d or 3d, but I'll probably go 3d. I'm excited for it despite the jerkwads that spoiled 2-3 key elements of the move which I obviously won't name here...Leave a comment:

Stay away from the internet until you watch it...I already got spoiled an I'm pissed.Leave a comment:

I'll be keeping my expectations extremely low for this and maybe they'll make a half-way decent movie this time and I'll like it! Glad to see JJ isn't directing this one.Leave a comment:

One thing I will say about the trailer. John Williams is a bad man! That is one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard for a trailer.Leave a comment:

The whole "oh Kylo and Rey are teaming up" thing. If you look at that scene, Kylo's got embers falling around him, there's a red tint, it looks like he's got a fire going near him. Rey on the other hand appears to be in the same caves she's been training with Luke in. When she says "I just want someone to show me my place in all of this" it's made to look like she's talking to Kylo, I actually think she's begging Luke (who is scared out of his mind) to still train her despite the fact that he's terrified of her "raw power" that he wasn't scared enough the first time he saw it (Ben/Kylo)
They are trying to convince us that either Rey goes dark or Ren comes back light (which I think he will come back light, but not with that scene) and it's just a fake out to throw us off.
Like Luke said "This won't go...like you think it will" or something along those lines.Leave a comment:
