  • You (spoilers warning)

Can I made this side thread where we can discuss spoilers on the show while people in the Netflix thread can come and go as the please.

It may not have many legs and if so it can die but if future seasons exist I can see the show picking up steam with this thread.

    A couple of thoughts

    1. I agree with you I always felt it was a risk killing Beck season one because I think that created the obstacle where it was going to be a tough act to follow going forward.

    2. For that matter I was not a fan of the new love interest. It’s weird i was a major fan of the actress in Haunting of Hill House. But I honestly took over 5 episodes to put my thumb on how I knew her. My wife looked up IMDB and then I realized it. I was calling her a poor mans Kat Denning. To that note I just wasn’t as much of a fan of her. She was attractive but not quite to the creepy stalker appeal that was so evident with Beck. And there was just some gif about half the looks she gave him that I wasn’t a fan of. But I did tell my wife episode 1 I thought the season two twist was she would be the creepy stalker. By the finale I had given up on my stupid prediction and lo and behold it bared fruit!!!

    3. I honestly liked Delilah more all season. My wife agreed. We weren’t a fan of hers at first but she surprisingly grew with great depth. I actually was starting to think she was the real season 2 major victim. But that met a disappointing fate.

    4. I liked forty. Didn’t think i would like him at first either but by seasons end he was also more likeable than Love.

    5. Season 2 ends again wondering where do we go from here. But they teased just enough at the end to show season 3 could be highly entertaining.

    6. Which brings me to my last point. Shockingly Netflix has not yet renewed one of their most popular shows for season 3. Not sure why. Usually they renew this popular of a show pretty quick. The director said she has tons of ideas for many seasons. But it’s gotta get picked up first. And as of today they are unsure what their future is.

All right buddy. This is a nice, safe place to talk. I'll go through your list first, given it is pretty thorough, and from my perspective, quite similar to what I think.

Point 1 - Beck was special. And the concept of the show was intriguing, Not easy to replicate.
Point 2 - As for Love. I liked her, but she is not quite Kat Denning, though some similarity in face! (I like Kat!!) At some point I had a suspicion that she would be involved with killing, and I actually felt she could be Delilah's killer. Now, given all the potential bad eggs, it could have been one of many. But yes, that one I got right.
Point 3 - I liked Delilah too. I did not like seeing her go that way.
Point 4 - Forty....hmmmm….did not care for him most of the time, but he had some good qualities after all.
Point 5 - Yes, the ending leaves us high and dry. Joe once again finds his girl, only to think he finds another girl. He is apparently over Love, after all they went through. I guess he does not like creeps like himself as much!
        Point 6 - I hope there's a season 3. It will be a "neighbourly" adventure.

        Additional notes:
1 - One thing this show does is illuminate the importance of proper child care. Yikes, what a pack of crazies though!!
2 - Joe has more lives than a cat!!! How is that the cop searched his garbage and did not notice blood??? And of course, same cop shoots Forty. And the B&B owner lets him off the hook, as do The Quinn's...who must be richer than Bezos!!!
3 - I must have missed a few minutes, but he must have some cash to set up his "prisons" wherever he goes.
4 - Not really nice how a 15 year old is banished for just being intelligent!!!
5 - Did you think perhaps that the daughter was Milo's??

Ok...enough of my notes. It was fun.....and yes, I am starving for some pastry!!!

On number 2 I assumed he actually ditched the bloody bag despite acting super guilty. And his behavior was just to fool us.

I’m also curious where his deep bottomless pockets come from to move the jail and also send money to Ellie whenever she asks.

I think initially I did question whose kid it was. But I thought she answered. I might need to circle back on that one.

Fiance and I finished season 2 and we both loved it.

I liked Love. I thought she was smart and charming. Beck was alright she kind of annoyed me in season 1. I liked the twist of her being just as messed up as joe.

I hated forty at first but when milo showed up and forty called him salami nips I started to like him. Sad that in the end he was the most sane person.

Delilah. I didn't really care for her but then she grew on me. Also helps that the actress is a smoke show. Her sister was annoying though.

Glad they explained how candice was alive and what happened between them. I was surprised at what happened to her

I have no idea how joe moved his box or even built a new one on just working at a book store in LA. It's annoying that he finally found someone who is equally or more messed up as him yet in the end he gets eyes for someone else. Joe is definitely in love with the idea of love and once Love became impure in his eyes he didnt see her the same way.

Season 2 just wasn’t it for me. Joe losing feelings for Love once she told him what she did was just absurd seeing as it’s basically the same reasoning Joe had for Beck. And all the twists seemed like they were taking the easy out since they couldn’t do the same thing as season 1, they were a bit predictable IMO.

Forty annoyed me throughout the season although the acid trip was a highlight. I don’t understand how Henderson died from Joe of all people pushing him down what 4 stairs? Why wouldn’t Joe keep the keys to his storage unit on him at all times especially when he has someone in the cage? Did they show anything new regarding the investigation at the end of season 1 or did they finish it in season 1? I didn’t understand Candace’s angle at all, if she couldn’t get him charged for attempted murder why not at least pursue the domestic assault? Why ignore that and then come back to him and warn him that you’d make his life hell? That’s a big risk to take after he tried to kill you once.

Will was awesome, I wish there were more interactions with him. Surprisingly calm given his situation, and a seemingly positive outlook and ability to not hold a grudge provided him the opportunity to live. If only more people could stay that level headed. Delilah was my second favorite character, hated that she ended up dying. There didn’t seem to be much of a plan for what would happen after either, at least as far as Ellie goes. I’ll be interested in seeing if she comes back in upcoming seasons or if she remains lazily written off.

Very confused by the ending too. How does Joe know he “loves” this new woman? As far as I can tell he couldn’t even see her face, he just saw her reading a book and he was behind her. I guess maybe he saw the book and he’s going off that but if that’s the case Joe is coming off the rails quicker than I would have thought. I wonder if season 3 is going to turn into a family killing or if Joe kills both women after the neighbor kills the unborn baby. Although I would be pleasantly surprised if they went away from the killing altogether for a season and approached a new angle, just don’t do a season in the courtroom like 13 reasons why.

Is everyone as slow as I am to figure out the names - Forty and Love? Initially I thought it was because they were trying to be cool. When I said them together I realized it was just tennis.

I actually think it’s just that. Tennis. I was wondering half the season too and then one episode I looked at my wife and said I what kind of dumb name is forty anyway? And then it hit me. The rich parents that like tennis named their kids forty and love. A score.

They even show them playing tennis and how serious they get about it.

You bring up some very good points.

                      1. For season 1 everyone was too quick to accept the jealous therapist (uncle Jessie) as her killer. No one suspected Joe at all until Forty. He figured it out but was dumb and tried to resolve it himself.

                      2. I agree they made Joe too quick and easy to already have a new love interest without seeing her at all. He just liked that she read books.

                      3. I agree Candace angle seemed too desperate and risky just to add an obstacle.

                      4. My guess is Ellie was lazily written off and won’t be back.

Yes....tennis of course. But given how "trendy" they were, I thought it was more than that. I guess Clay, Ace, Deuce, Serve, Lob, Spin, Volley and a few other words had a shot.

As for Joe....I think this dude could fall in love with a car if it moved gracefully, and had the right sound to it.

Also did anyone else feel like Will wasn’t actually a real person? At times he seemed like Joe’s angel subconscious encouraging him to do the right thing while still rationalizing all the bad he’s done. I mean Joe certainly has enough visions of people that aren’t there so it wouldn’t be a huge shock. And given that the story is basically told from his point of view I wonder if any of this is even an accurate portrayal of what’s taking place around him. I know it’s a story and all but Joe is a really bad criminal and the people/police around him are completely oblivious

Something else I forgot to mention that didn’t make sense to me. How did the mob guy know where Joe lived? If that was the original Will’s actual place of residence how did Delilah not see through that immediately? It was still super early in the season so Joe hadn’t really made himself known as Will to that point so I’d have to assume that Will gave the mob guy (blanking on his name) that address at some point but that wouldn’t make sense either if he was just going to cut and run with the money unless he was planning on moving once he got the money but he didn’t do that either.
