Musically innovative (first true rock-rap group) and intelligent lyrics, although yes, I can't deal with de la Rocha's voice either.

I listen to almost anything and everything. Mostly classic rock though. In the last few years however, I find myself listening to more classical and jazz though.
Lately, I am listening to Mick Jagger and still cant take "Breakfast in America" out of my cd player in my car. My favorite album of all time.
Music I am not particlarly fond of is Country and Rap. But there are exceptions........
My RECORD collection spans everything from Mozart to Led Zeppelin to Frank Sinatra. CD's too. But most of my CD's are just copies of my records because they just never did make turntables that fit in a sportscar!
Edit... Thread not dead yet! (but I am a member of the threadkillers!)👍 1Comment

Breakfast in America is very cool. They were WAY ahead of their time in terms of production and arrangements. They would have sounded AWESOME in the CD era. Lots of subtleties.

I too enjoy a wide range of music. As an 80s teenager 60's and 70's Soul was my favourite and I continue to enjoy listening to artists such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder and Otis Redding.
I've developed a taste for Jazz recently too. Louis Armstrong is a gem and Ella Fitzgerald has such a wonderfully rich voice. I've also just bought my first Sinatra album a compilation of his greatest songs. He has an uncanny knack to deliver a song in a way many others just can't do.
I enjoy listening to some classical music - nothing too serious - just the sort of stuff you can relax and wind down to.
I grew up with U2 and Annie Lennox and have a number of their albums. I don't listen to them as much now but I think they still remain some of the best live performers and are a hard act to beat.
My son is going through a retro phase at the moment and has introduced me to the delights of Jimi Hendrix. His guitar playing is awesome. He's also introduced me to Green Day and is trying to convert me to rap. Rap is ok but I won't be rushing to the shops to buy any albums. Manufactured pop is my biggest hate.
Finally I enjoy a bit of Opera too. My bro is a rookie opera singer and through him I've come to start enjoying some of that music. By no means am I an opera buff/snob and don't wish to be so either. In fact I can't think of anything worse than having to listen to a whole opera on cd but it's great to go to a live performance and compilation cd's of best arias from different operas are good too.👍 1Comment
