Early 70's, the Rolling Stones came to Nashville......we camped out all night in front of the box office.....it was pretty organized at first......people were camped out in the order that they got there, sort of a line.....couldn't block the sidewalks, cause the cops were bothering us for being there that early.....anyway about two hrs. before the ticket office opened.....the orderly line soon became mayhem.....for two hours, pushing and shoving to get a good place in line........make a long story short, $18.00 for a ticket........outragious, unheard of, what would ticket prices be in 10 yrs.......Great concert though.....Stevie Wonder open the show, after he did his set, we went up to the front to see friends ( usually there's a 20 or 30 minute break between sets),,about 15 min. later the Stones came out.....everyone rushed the stage and we were already there pressed up against the stage......
WARNING WARNING. If you read this and don't believe the accounts......eat manure

      That is awesome dude!

      And for Stevie to open!

I have been in those lines when they begin to take on a life of their own!

Once waiting for WHO tickets, at a department store - MAY D&F - which had the Ticketmaster outlet, well, after the whole damned waiting overnight, having a list, etc, thing finaly got worked out... Once they opened the doors to the store, and we filed in, in an orderly fashion, why... damned if there were not like 15 or so people who suddenly jumped out of the coat racks INSIDE the store! They all tried to bull their way into line, and Johnny Law escorted 'em all out the door!

      What a trip!

Dude, you can try your damndest to belittle me, but you aint got the power!

It must suck to only derive self worth from TRYING to slam others.

If you really are a cop, I feel for the people in your county.

Truth is... I feel for you. Something really, really bad must have happened to you as a kid for you to only derive pleasure from ATTEMPTING to slam the rest of us!

Thing is... as I share experiences from my life here with posters I do care about, it is obvious that it makes you jealous, and so you TRY to call into question my life experiences.

            Plain and simple PATHETIC.

            AGAIN...

Blowing out the candle of another does not make yours burn any brighter!

If both of you just ignored the situation it'd be dead. Instead of responding to eachother and dragging the argument along, stop replying and get back to the topic on hand. It's really that simple.

                Prince

                April 2004 in Ames, Iowa.

That concert was friggin amazing. And I thought I was over the euphoric feeling of being at such an event. I felt like a teenager again! The dude can play anything and play it at a high level.

Wow -- best concert ever. Tough one...

                    - 1988 Newport Jazz Festival at Saratoga Performing Arts Center -- B.B. King, Ray Charles, Lionel Hampton, Spyrogyra, David Sanborn, Illinois Jacquet and Branford Marsalis, among others
                    - Fishbone and Primus at SUNY Stonybrook (Fall 1991)
                    - Fishbone, De La Soul and George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars in Austin, TX (September 1995, I think)
                    - 1997 Vans Warped Tour at CU Boulder -- Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Reel Big Fish, Hepcat, Social Distortion, Buck o Nine and others
                    - Eve6 and VAST, Gothic Theater (Spring 2001?)

Off the top of my head, those all stood out for one reason or another.

Whatever the show was, I reserved two tickest for myself. Black Oak Arkansas, Peter Frampton, Rolling Stones, Montrose, Pink Floyd, Aerosmith, Chicago, ZZ Top, David Bowie, Eagles, Climax Blues Band, Elton John, Jethro Tull, ELO, BTO, EL & P, Paul McCartney, Grand Funk, Allman Bros ... You name the band from the 70s and I've probably seen them at least once. I've probably seen a lot of bands most of you have never heard of too. That is if they came to my city in the four years I worked in the Rec office. I went to a rock concert about every other week for four years.
I can't say one single concert was the best. There were some which were pretty bad, but only a couple. Led Zepplin was horrible, but I really never cared too much for them anyway. Some were exactly like thier live album, ie Peter Frampton and Frampton Comes Alive.
Now I could live like that

                        hey

Wise guy.... sounds like you been around the block and down the street!

The 3rd Time I saw Tull, musta been after the time you mentioned, 'cause Ian Anderson announced that everyone should sit down, and if they stood up, the show was over. Well, he damn well meant it!

I was on the floor, and two dumb chicks stood up and started dancin' and right away... Ian dropped his flute and walked offstage! An announcement came on about 2 minutes later... and 2 minutes can be an eternity in those conditions... and they announced that Ian was gonna give us all one more chance.

After that, nobody dared even go to the bathroom! Whata a trip!

Wiseguy, you musts seen my favorites... Asleep at the Wheel?

Unfortunately, my list pales in comparison to many. I've seen many of my favs, but since I live in the 70s and am only 27, I've only seen them as old farts...Tull, Roger Waters, Yes, Kansas, Rush, King Crimson, Queensryche...

All of them were great as they were, but even the seemingly imortal Ian Anderson is only a reflection of what some of the footage I've seen on DVD.

I haven't seen Pink Floyd, but I did see Waters in I think 2001 at Fiddlers and that was a great show.

I've seen one of my favorite current bands, Dream Theater, several times. All their shows are outstanding. Also, I saw Coheed and Cambria last year at the Gothic. THAT was an amazing show.

The worst or most disappointing show I've ever seen was the Alan Parson's Project. I love many of their albums, but live they seemed bored to be there.

                            Queensryche are old farts?

They are but pups compared to the rest of that list.

True, compared to Yes, they're practically unborn fetuses...lol.

But I do think QR is a mere shadow to what they were when Operation Mindcrime or Empire was fresh.

Everyone in Maiden is getting up there too.

Well, they haven't had any recent radio play, but I think that they still write challenging, thoughtful music. They experimented with melody on those records, to great commercial success, but it seems that now they are writing at a more gut level.

Chris DeGarmo leaving had something to do with that I am sure.

To be honest though, Promised Land is my fave, not the two you mentioned.....(although it is my fave by a very slight margin).

                                LOL....unborn fetuses.

And yes, maiden is getting up there. Judas Priest is actually older though, unless I am mistaken.
