Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

It's not as good as the previous one. The plot stalls in places, and too much non-plot related stuff (Ministry BS, make out sessions, Older Weasely getting married, etc.)
But, it certainly accomplishes it main goal, which is to explain why Voldemort didn't die when he tried to kill Harry all those years ago, and to set up book 7.
Well if we get to a part where someone is going to post a spoiler then they shoudl place it at the top of there post in Bold print, and then post a bit further down the page.
Finished it today, thought it was less blocky and more streamlined than the previous book. Don't think it really stalls as much as it takes most of the book to get up to speed. The earlier books all had some earlier catalyst to help propel the story and kick the plot into a higher gear. This one just seems to gradually rumble on and less attention is paid to many of the supporting characters as has been in the past.
Aww, Jovi, reading is good for you. Plus, the movies can never squeeze in all the details in the book.
I'm almost finished with it and it's pretty good.
(I don't think the series is worth all the hoopla it receives but it is pretty good overall.)
Of course, Javalon, you own a bookstore (unless I am wrong), so you wil tell everyone reading is good!
I think the story is well plotted out, I just think her writing is rather pedestrian.
Also, Jav, no Robin Hobb (is that name right) at the local B&N or Borders. Is it worth special ordering? Should I mail order form you? Send some business to a fellow Bronco fan?

Yep, I am a little biased in favor of books.
I've actually tried to be very careful about not asking, suggesting or even hinting that anybody should get their books from me. I'm not here to solicit business. But thanks for the thought.
You're in the San Diego area, right? Most big cities have several really good independent bookstores and I'd suggest giving them a try. Even if their inventory is smaller in quantity than B&N or Borders, independents often have a more diverse selection and you'll be surprised how often you'll find books there that aren't readily available the chain stores.
BTW, we had a huge Harry Potter party last Friday night in anticipation of the midnight release. We were completely overwhelmed by the turnout and I was severely stressed out. But it was fun overall and the customers seemed to have a good time. A restaurant near us opened up and made up some "butter beer" that was extremely tasty! Mmm...mmm...mmm

Actually, I moved. I am an hour NW of L.A. now, between Malibu and Santa Barbara (yeah, my life is sooooooooooooooooooo tough...)
Anyway, I am sure L.A. or S.B. stores would have it. It's just so hard to drive 45 minutes either way for book with an active toddler who is trying to walk. She shrieks in the seat now, unfortunately. How's your boy?
And I have a recipe for butterbeer, believe it or not, that you can whip out at Halloween or when the new move comes out, if you tie a sale to it or something. Let me know if you want it. The kids who came to my door this past Halloween loved it. Parents had to try it first, of course, but it went over well.
Seriously, if I can't find any of this recommended Hobb, I might have it use Amazon, and I know you have issue with them. I may have to force you to seel to me, under penalty of banning!
BTW, it isn't solicitation when someone offers to purchase with no prompting. But I respect what you are saying.

Oh, Robin Hobb! I somehow read it as Robin Hood. I need to slow down when I read. B&N and Borders didn't have it? That's very odd because she's got a decent following, although not on Robert Jordan's level.
And I take your point about not soliciting if somebody asks. So, sure, I'll sell it to you if you'd like. And I'll do my best to match or beat the evil old Amazon.com's pricing. I'll PM you tomorrow when I get back to work if you're still interested.
Off to finish the Half-Blood Prince now... Good night!

She really left the way open for more books. If he isnt going back to school for his last year, there is no reason to limit the series to 7 books. Hell, she could write a book about finding each of the.... soul things, whatever they were callled, and make loads of money. Im a little upset about that. Plus, the book wasnt as well written, and flat out wasnt as good as the others.
And in the end, when he said he had to stopdating the girl cuz his enemies could use her against him, i said out loud "shut up Spider man". I mean that plot line is WAY overused. just my thoughts

I agree. I bought the new one but haven't read it yet. I thought the other 5 ranged from Excellent (book 4) to mediocre (book 5). She is a good storyteller but, as a teacher who reads a lot of adolescent literature, IMO there are better ones out there that, for whatever reason, don't get nearly the amount of publicity and fanaticism as she does.
I got it last Saturday with the first post and then my brother pinched it and I wasn't able to read it!
But I've got it back now and am about a quarter of the way through.
