when did a pimp become something to look up to?

a pimp is someone who exploits women for money. a slave driver of the worst sort. consider the underlying transaction: women and customer exchange goods for services. pimp contributes nothing. why does the pimp get money out of this exchange? b/c he beats up the women if they don't give him the money. at the very least there is psycological compulsion.

now let's think about "hustle and flow." a movie about a sexual slave driver who get's rich singing about being a slave driver. and yet no one seems bothered. pisses me off.

Even though I love the guy, as do many, but we have Snoop Dog to thank for the PIMPin love...

I think it is more of the image of a pimp that people look up, not so much the actions of a pimp...

People want the money, the women, the power and for some unknown reason, they want to look foolish like a pimp too...

It's gone so far that there are actually girls at the school I teach at that openly say they are looking for a pimp. They don't mean they want to become hookers (I hope) but that they want an older man (meaning high school or above) to look after them. Again, it's the image, not the reality.

BTW, I teach at a Middle School so these girls are aged 11-13 - sad, isn't it?
