Anthems and Protests ---
While we certainly understand the frustration by fans on all sides of the discussion, we have decided to keep the Broncos Country message boards separate from politics. Recent events have brought the NFL to the forefront of political debates, but due to the highly emotional and passionate discussion it tends to involve, we think it’s best to continue to keep politics and this forum separate. Yes, the forum is meant for discussion, but we’d like to keep that discussion to football as much as possible.
With everything going on in our country, it would be nice to keep our complaints and cheers purely related to football here. If you feel passionately, there are plenty of other outlets available to you to express your opinions. We know this isn’t the most popular decision, but we ask that you respect it.
Thank you for understanding.

Oasis is the greatest band of all time IMO - 2 brothers from the northern industrial city of manchester are the 2 main one's - i like this group as they are very real and a great rock group!!!!!!
here are 3 of my favourite tracks, take a listen - what did you think???
Man Bronx, you're striking out today with your threads aren't you?
Anyway, before I read the thread I was gonna make the crack that only someone from the UK could make such a wild claim... And alas, I was correct
Oasis isn't terrible, they have a couple decent songs... But I definitely wouldn't call them the greatest, or even close to the greatest.
i suppose it depends where your from, being an american board you won't get much support for them.
i hear alot of gun's and rose's and nirvana etc.......but i prefer rock with good lyrics that you can hear and understand......a bunch of screaming's not my thing
i suppose it depends what you like - alot of americans seem obsessed with S.O.A.D. and for thelife of me i cannot see why.

Well, I don't think it's totally based on nationality. Oasis just has a strong UK following because that's where they came up. It's no secret that the Gallaghers aren't the most likeable or humble people in the world. Plus I just don't think their body of work is strong enough to make the claim that they are the greatest... That'
You did list 3 of my favorite bands in the last 20 years though, Nirvana, GnR and SOAD. I think growing up going to rock shows has developed my taste for the harder bands. But I am also just as likely to listen to Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam and some bands that seem to be more up your alley. SOAD is just as big in Europe as they are in the states...
My point is that I don't really think that American taste in music vs. other countries' taste in music is fundamentally different. It's a matter of personal preference.
I like the song Champaigne Supernova and that was about it. They didn't really appeal to me that much other than that song and they were banned from American radio for a while and may still be. Mainly because of their outspoken attitude towards drugs, specifically pot I think.

I lot of lists have oasis albums listed as some of the most influential of the 90's, so it's definitely possible to argue they are one of the best rock groups of recent memory, if for no other reason than that to me, there doesn't seem to be much pure rock n' roll these days.
That being said, i'd have to disagree anyways! I think they are good, but def. past their heydey, and i can think of other true rock cds that i prefer.

No offense to you bronx_2003, but you claim you want lyrcs you can understand, and for the life of me, I am not sure how Oasis fits that bill. The lyrics are nonsensical for the most part.
What exactly is a Champagne Supernova? Is that different than a wine supernova or beer supernova?
I like their melodies, but they do sound the same as a lot of the Stone Roses second CD, which is crap compared to the Stone Roses debut, but superior to most of what Oasis has written, IMO.

As for Americans prefering screaming, I disagree. Led Zep, Black Sabbath, Def Leppard and other UK artists have had a lot of success, and they don't sound anything like GNR or SOAD. Gnr doesn't really scream.
I do think American hard rock, taken as a whole, is more gut level than in the UK, but that is obviously a generality, not a rule.
There is a reason why and band like Muse sounds 'British' and Staind sounds "American'. All of the cultural differences, subtle as they are, are more pronounced in the music.

Yeah, the best, most trendstetting Rock bands of all time are British though.
Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Sex Pistols, Black Sabbath ect.
Other than The Doors, we don't have really have any bands that were brillant and original when they came out.

aww cmon thats a pretty broad statement
alot of modern bands have proven that the US has some shred of originality.
The killers come to mind, as a few others but i dont have the time to list all of them.
That being said, the British really have the most original entertainment in the world, from tv sitcoms, to music, to movies, our friends from across the pond keep making magic.
Favorite UK bands out right now: Bloc Party, franz ferdinand (evne though their scottish), and the artic monkeys.
