Its about the movie "Amistad", if you never saw it, it's about slaves that are kidnapped from Africa and go through cruel torture and such on the boats, they watch some slaves get tossed over board and etc. One night they revolt and kill some of hte white men on the boat and take it over, but they are soon caught and taken on trial for murder in America.
We had to write a letter to the judge of the trial,feel free to give me any criticism or anything on this essay....
Dear Honorable Judge,
I am writing on behalf of the Amistad Case. The slaves that are in possession of your court shall be granted freedom. The slaves were abruptley kidnapped from their villages. For one to lose his freedom in such an ill manner is preposterous.
Not only were the slaves kidnapped, they were also abused and treated like animals. For someone to be snatched from his family unknowingly does not only hurt mentally but emotionally. It is inhumane to treat someone with such vulgar actions. Not only is it inhumane, it is also disrespectful to this very nation and everything in which it stands for, and that is freedom.
It is not right to wish death upon any one, but these white ship leaders got what they deserved. Not only were these innocent slave’s defending themselves, they were also defending their freedom. If they did not revolt they could have ended up like the other 50 slaves tossed from the ship. As Frederick Douglass once said,“The thing worse than rebellion is the thing that causes rebellion.”
