        Happy Birthday Christopher Lee.

He's the last real horror actor left. Lee, Peter Cushing, and Vincent Price will always be the 3 I think of when it comes to those type of movies. Vincent Price was amazing and he was one of my favorite actors. Was a real gentleman too.

Thanks for the info!! CP on it's way. Price was born May 27th, 1911.

I recently watched "Tales of Terror" (1962). It has 3 stories, with Price starring in all 3. Peter Lorre is in the 2nd one (what a character!!) and Basil Rathbone is in the 3rd one. I found the movie to be very entertaining.

I desperately want to see "House of the Long Shadows", which had Lee, Price and Cushing. I've read a good review of the movie....... and am crossing my fingers that AMC will show it this October...... I love the movies they show leading up to Halloween.

My son and I have "The Great Mouse Detective" , in which Price did the voice of the bad guy. Ratigan Rules!!!

I let him watch the 2nd story of "Tales of Terror" with me..... quite comical. He just turned 8 and I am very close to introducing him to more of the Horror movies I grew up watching. The only Horror movies I watched before I was 9 or 10 were the original Frankenstein and "Trilogy of Terror" . I was very, very young (5!!) when I saw "Trilogy of Terror" . It will always be my favorite Horror movie because of the 3rd story, "He Who Kills" , which terrified me like nothing since has even approached. I couldn't bear the thought of giving my son nightmares, so we have only watched a couple of Frankenstein movies together thus far. Dan Curtis of "Nightstalker" fame directed "Trilogy of Terror" and Richard Matheson ,who wrote the MUST-READ "I am Legend" , wrote the screen play. "I am Legend" (filmed as the dreadful "The Omega Man" --sorry, Mr. Heston....loved you in the "Planet of the Apes" movies, but......--and "The Last Man on Earth" , starring Vincent Price , which I need to see) also contains several short stores, including "Prey" , which was filmed as "He Who Kills" .

I very nearly watched "Horror of Dracula" with my son last weekend, but decided against it at the last minute...... we watched some Dr. Who from 1971 instead . Has anyone seen Peter Cushing as Dr. Who ?? He made a couple of movies as the Dr. in the 60's. I'm careful with what I let my boy watch, and I might hold off for another year or so before we watch Lee/Cushing in a Dracula movie (perhaps Halloween of 2007), but, in the mean time, we can watch them in "The Curse of Frankenstein" and "The Mummy" . He loves the Frankenstein movies we have watched, but Dracula is a pretty big step up the ladder from Frankenstein . As for the old Mummy movies, I'm reminded of a line from Stephen King "Oh no, the Mummy's after us...... we'd better walk quickly!!" (I may have missed the exact wording).... but they (Mummy movies) will be safe enough.

Perhaps I'm being old-fashioned with the movies I allow my son to watch, but there is no question that the horror movies from the 50's/60's/70's are better than most recent horror movies. Give me a Hammer movie any time!!

I would love to hear opinions from other parents concerning the age to let kids watch Vampire movies...... or opinions from those who aren't parents with memories of the Horror movies they watched in their early years. I watched MANY, MANY Horror movies from the age of 9 or so, most of them without my parents' knowledge at that age, either when they worked nights or by watching with the volume way down as they slept.

Happy birthday to both Vincent Price & Christopher Lee.....................both fantastic actors, from an era where the actors themselves had to create the terror.

There's been some other great actors mentioned on here as well, obviously Lee's partner in crime, Peter Cushing as well as Peter Lorre and Basil Rathbone, best known for his portrayal of Sherlock Holmes.

He takes great care of himself. I've always loved his voice. It's a shame it took so long for big-named directors to show interest in him, but he's cretainly been busy the past few years. Christopher Lee is the ultimate bad guy .
