  • Blade: The Series

    on tonight on Spike

    Anyone watching?

I'm going to TIVO it and watch it later.

I liked the movies so I hope this is at least as good.

David Goyer and Geoff Johns are writing so it should be at least presentable.

Not sure about the choice of Sticky Fingaz for Blade.

I'll tell you what I think later.

Tonight Im going to watch Superman Returns.

I have a really hard time imagining someone besides Wesley Snipes as Blade. It just doesn't seem right to me, but I'm willing to give it a try.
Power is not revealed by striking hard or often, but by striking true.

It is men who endure toil and dare danger that achieve glorious deeds, and it is a wonderful thing to live with courage and to die leaving behind an everlasting renown.

yeah, me too. Seeing as it's on in about 20 minutes, I'll probably just record it with my DVR.

Agreed. It wasn't anything special, but it wasn't awful either. Jackson's portayal of Blade isn't spot on yet, but he might get it over

I didnt think it was too bad. I liked it.

The guy playing Blade is trying a bit too hard to just copy Snipes, but it could be worse. Of course, he's being directed. And he has big shoes to fill.

I like the girl from the Mercury commercials. Krista.

And the vampires, although I just dont picture vampires as blonde, seem pretty good. I hope Blade goes from house to house if this series last a few years. Continually battling the same people over and over will get boring.

Yeah i think that the next episode will be better; At least from what they've shown. I think that sticky's fighting skills isn't as cool as wesley's but hopefully that will change as the series progresses.

I will agree that this guy doesn't have Wesley's fighting chops and this Blade seemed to get hit more than Wesley's. Not sure what I think about that.

That being said, while I think this guy is trying hard to portray Wesley playing Blade, I saw glimpses of him about to take over certain aspects of the character and making it his own.

I like the techie, and Krista seems to be a good fit. Vampire espionage and intrigue, very interesting.

They didn't pull any punches in the show, that's for sure, though I would have liked to have seen a bit more eroticism. Guess they wanted more action than anything.

In looking at the season-long previews, it looks like the show has a lot going for it story-wise and that bodes well. I'll stick with it.
Victory and defeat are matters of the temporary force of circumstance.

                        Thanks, Snk16!!

There isn't ... there is a television serial on Spike TV - which is based off of the films. I will not be watching it as I do not like the idea of a movie turned into a TV series.
The Browns are gone; I'm not a fan of the Impostors

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

Well, I just got finished with the pilot and I thought it was slightly below average.

My main concern is Kirk Jones as Blade.

He doesn't seem like he's a good fit for the part. While it's obvious he's bulked up a bit for the role, he just doesn't look as gracefull and powerfull as Blade should be. He's doesn't move very well and doesn't have the swagger needed for the role. Hopefully this will change but the guy needs a serious athletic makeover otherwise he won't convince me he's a fighting machine. Also, it seemed he was doing his best Wesley Snipes impression and not a very good one at that. He needs to make the character his own and not worry what Wesley did.

I thought the story was pretty decent but it did seem awfully derivitive of other Blade story's.

The acting was really wooden all around but I expect that to change as people slide into their roles.

The effects were mearly adequate with the groaner being Krista jumping off the building bit. That looked horrible. You can tell this show is fairly low budget in comparison to other Sci-Fi/Fantasy.

                              I don't know.

This pilot had no bite and that sucks.

I'll see if it gets any better.

So far I give Blade the pilot

                              C-
