  • I HATE Direct TV!!!

Of course its tornado watch/ Sever Thunder strom warning/ High winds & Hail reports here .... so you know what that means?

Direct TV goes out. It would be very nice to know if my house was going to be hit by a tornado, AGAIN!!! Of course I can't tell via the TV reports because Direct TV is a POS & goes blank & the first wind gust or rain drop!

Is it this bad every where else, or am I just special?

My neighbor has Direct TV and he doesn't have a problem with it... I live in Pennsylvania, so take it for what it's worth I suppose

          is it satelite or cable??

cos if its satelite i can sorta accept how nature ruins your television experience...

but if you are paying big bucks and its a cable then i think you should go and kill some people...

I have had DirectTV for the last 3 years and haven't had much trouble. Occasionally in the winter I will have to go knock some snow off the dish to clear up the reception. Other than that, it has been great.

What is your signal strength for the satellites?

We don't have access to cable in our town yet so we have DISH satellite for the T.V. and satellite also for our computer and yes storms shut them down sometimes.
Heavy rains and snows will do it. I know the feeling of wanting to know what is going on lol.
In fact we have a line of storms headed our way, I'm expecting to lose everything at some point today.

Direct TV has its draw backs but I like it because one, its cheaper than cable, and two its the only way I can watch the Broncos on a consistant basis.

In case you weren't fully aware what it was they did to your house on installation...

THEY PUT A DISH ON YOUR ROOF!!!!!

This wonderful piece of electronic genius "talks" with an orbiting satellite thousands of miles away in space (where stars and other planets live).

When extreme storm clouds disrupt the communication channel (otherwise known as PLAIN SIGHT) your signal is lost.

It isn't rocket science, and it is also the reason before installing you are warned "MUST HAVE A CLEAR VIEW OF THE SOUTHERN SKY".

Is it frustrating? Yes, it happened to me a few times in Arkansas (under the same tornadic circumstances). Luckily we also had an antenna hooked up to the good 'ol fashioned air waves, and were able to get out local channels that-a-way.

In closing it isn't DirecTv's fault, it is above and beyond their control, hate the clouds if you want to, they're the true culprits.

Alright Alright, you got me there. My husband is the one that wanted to switch from cable to Direct TV for some football package.

I watch like 2 TV shows a week, that’s it. But I do like to watch the news. And seeing as our house was hit by a tornado last year I am still a little jumpy & prefer to watch TV/live Radar for warning rather than listen to the radio.

So I will blame the clouds & my husband for making us get that dumb dish!
