wow. this is a great movie. at its core it is an action movie, but the setting ensures that everything seems entirely new and unique. and it does have a great storyline for the action to hang on. the acting is good (although with foriegn languages it is always hard to tell) and they did a great job of creating an engrossing mayan experience. some have complained about the violence but i think they were simply looking for something to complain about because it isn't really any more violent than braveheart or the opening scene of private ryan. not to mention, when your story revolves around pillaging and human sacrifice, violence fits the bill. none of the violence was overdone or out of place considering the subject matter.
i highly recommend apocalyptico. unless you just hate mel gibson, you'll be very glad you saw it.
