The movie was made in 1977 so why was it considered bootlegging to transport Coors beer from Texarkana, TX to Atlanta, GA?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Maybe Coors wasn't legally sold in GA at that time? No licensed distributors, so selling it would have meant you did it without Coors' permssion?

From Wikipedia:
At the time Coors wasn't available in the eastern U.S.: due to the arcane nature of state liquor taxes, it was illegal to ship it east of Texas. (In fact, Texarkana, Texas lies in Bowie County, Texas, which is a dry county. Texarkana, Arkansas is "wet", but Coors could not be shipped east of Texas. There was no Coors in Texarkana; the closest Coors would have been found in the small Cass County, Texas community of Domino.)
So, I guess some sort of state law in Georgia at that time?

I just watched this the other day on HDNet without the bleeping and no commercials. It is a great classic.
I specifically remember my father hauling cases and cases of Coors back to Cincinnati when we would drive from Colorado to go back and see relatives. He would actually sell it to family for profit. LMAO!He would stash it in the cargo area of our big ol station wagon.
If not mistaken, at the time, it was not allowed any where east of the Mississippi River. For some reason that fact sticks out in my head.:usa: *** God Bless Our Military Men And Women*** :usa:
