  • Which Version of Star Wars would you rather see?

My friend and I came up with an interesting topic today. If you could either:

A: Remake the original trilogy with today's technology OR
B: Remake the prequels with "old fashioned" special effects of the 70's/80's

Which would you rather see? Personally, I'd like to see what they can pull off using old special effects on the Prequels. (Imagine Puppet Yoda in a fight!)

This isn't a thread about which movies are better, just what you think would be more interesting. And all you people that complain about too much CGI, just think of how the battle of Hoth would have looked with digital technology! Awesome, that's how. Once again, please no bashing, just what you think would be cooler/more interesting!

Well, since this is a thread about which would be more interesting, I'd have to go with B.

Seeing a puppet Yoda fight would be sweet

I like how the lightsabers look with today's technology though. So A would also be interesting to.

The puppet yoda is all I keep picturing too! It would either be really cool or really dumb, which sometimes can be both!

I think a puppet Yoda would look bad ina fight, but it'd be interesting to see if they could pull it off and look decent.

Have you noticed all the lightsaber fighting is much more sloppier in the original trilogy? I don't blame Luke for being sloppy in Episode VI, just because he didn't get the training Anakin and Obi-Wan did, but Vader vs Kenobi in Episode IV? That just was bad. So I think it'd be fun to see the better lightsaber fights in the original triolgy with the new technology.

Yeah, imagine old Darth and Kenobi flipping off the wall and doing twirls. "When I left you I was but a learner...now I am the Master"
            VADER FLIPS TOWARDS OBI WAN

            "Only a Master of EVIL"
OBI-WAN CARTWHEELS OUT OF THE WAY

That'd be awesome. Not the pathetic things they actually did.

Then they could do cool things with their lightsabers, like Anakin and Obi-Wan did in Episode III. Vader vs Kenobi Part II would probally be almost as good as the first one.

              *sigh*

My friend actually prefers the old fights. Give me 2 jedi vs 1 Sith anyday!

Vader vs. Luke redone would rule. But we don't need to see Vader flip around like Richochet Rabbit. He never gave that indication of his power in the movies, so it would look odd if he did it in a fight. It would take away from his luster. But a more agile and athletic Luke would be good.

But other than that, nothing else needs to be redone for the original series and if the prequals were old fashioned, it wouldn't be as good. So I guess I go with A for the Vader/Luke fight, and maybe a Jabba love scene.

Just fine the way they are.
The Browns are gone; I'm not a fan of the Impostors

The real Browns are in Baltimore, see?

I think the effects from Episodes 1 - 3 are great. It's the directing, acting and script-writing that sucked.

Take Lucas out and let a current great director and writer redo Eps. 1 - 3 (and maybe Jedi) and I'd be a happy camper.

there's a very good reason puppet yoda never fought-- i'll give ya three guesses why, but only one counts. . . .

and the old light-saber fights ruled. . . . no one wants to see darth freakin' vader trying to be jackie chan, and star wars was around LONG before the matrix. . . .

I still think the new lightsaber battles are cooler, but you make a good point. Vader vs. Luke in ROTJ seemed much more dangerous with them just hacking away at each other. Plus, it just made more sense. No one trained Luke, but the Jedi in the prequels were in their prime. Either way, I want a lightsaber so I can write my name in stuff. VRRROMMM!!

I still think it would be cool to see the battle of Hoth in CGI, or the podrace in Episode I using older models and matte paintings. Just neat to have a new perspective on familiar movies.
